Is Test Track too intense for a pregnant woman?

We're heading down to epcot in a couple of weeks and we also just found out my wife is pregnant. Epcot will be a good park since most of the rides are fairly tame. I know that Mission Space will be out (I assume the easy version will be too rough as well), but I've never been able to ride Test Track due to it always being broken when we were there before.

Is this ride too intense for someone who is pregnant or will she be fine? Also, how bad is the Mission Space Green? Is that something that she should avoid as well or is the tame version pretty easy?

If a pregnant woman can deal with a car ride on the highway or a bumpy road, then she will be able to handle test track. But that's just my opinion.

^Indeed. If the signs say don`t, then don`t. Better to be safe than sorry - at best a possible ruined vacation. At worst, well...

I'd skip it. No reason to take a chance, as others have said.

Yes, I suppose it could be compared to a regular car ride (albeit a weird one :lookaroun  ) but if something were to happen, was it worth it?

I would skip it, along with TOT, Mission Space, Dinosaur (or whatever it's called now!), any coasters and possibly even Splash Mountain. I would skip anything with major speed, big drops and jerky movements. Better safe than sorry.

Luckily, Disney has so many other rides you can enjoy!

Also - if you still want to ride Test Track, go on as a single rider. She can probably wait with you in line, then step aside and watch so you can still enjoy the experience.

BAD advice! Test Track is NOT like "a car ride on the highway or a bumpy road". Even though it's not a roller coaster and I would describe it as anything but "intense", Test Track would not be a good ride for a pregnant woman. Throughout the ride there are very sudden stops followed by sudden accelerations. Every time it slows down it does so in a very un-smooth manner that usually causes everyone in the vehicle to jolt forward a few times. I would never recommend Test Track for a pregnant woman.

First - Congratulations!!!

I have been to Disney while pregnant both times now. (I am due March 23).

Almost all of the rides suggest that pregnant women not ride. Because I have been to Disney too many times to count, I am able to make decisions based on previous rides.

On our last trip, I was 4 months pregnant and I did not ride Splash Mtn, Space Mtn, Big Thunder Mtn, Everst, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, Test Trak and Mission Space. I did however ride Kilomanjaro Safaris and I should not have. I thought it was an easier ride that it actually was.

The most important thing is that if you have the least little bit of doubt that your wife should ride then SHE SHOULD NOT. Protecting your child starts the moment you know they are in the womb. You definately would not want to do anything that would cause a problem in the future.

I know you will make the right choices and once again Congrats!!

I was 8 weeks pregnant when I went to the Magic Kingdom, and I went on several of the rides. I've never been on the test track, but I think anything with that much force would probably have made me ill.

lol, thank you. I knew Mission Space was out of the question but also knew that the lawyers had made Disney put so many warnings on everything that they were basically useless for knowing anything. I had heard Test Track was only like a bumpy highway. Thanks for letting me know there's a little more to it than that.

Since you've never been, try the single rider line together. That way you can see the stuff in the queue, she can see the preshow with you, then you can do the ride and she can go look at the GM showroom while you ride.

For all intents and purposes, most thrill rides are the same:

The warnings are there for a reason, to save Disney's a** if anything serious does happen. Just a small description of the ride in whole so you may decide for yourself. Personally, I would not ride it if I was pregnant. (Not possible)

Spoilers below for those who haven't ridden yet...

The seatbelts are regular over the shoulder seatbelts which (being a man, I could be completely wrong) could be uncomfortable and could harm an unborn child if there is a sudden stop.

Ride goes around a bend and up an incline. Takes a turn and drives over a bumpy road which could be rather jaring.

Hits about 30 MPH and into a fishtail to show a car without ABS. Turns 180 and does the same stop with ABS.

Slow crawl through a hot room, cold room, and acid room.

Does a pretty quick mountain driving with tight turns and moderate speeds and a little dip. Probably not good for a pregnant woman.

Quick swerve to avoid a truck.

Crash test and then outside to the speed part which is relatively smooth but pretty high lateral G's. Back inside to the station.

Hope this helps, and congrats on the baby!!!

One other thing to bear in mind for Test Track - should you be on the exterior section and have an E Stop the vehicle can come to a very quick halt. Not on a dime; but enough to put strain on your upper body from the seatbelt and decelleration forces. Add to this if you are on a banked turn you may be stuck, strapped in, and leaning sideways at a 40-odd degree angle for a great length of time.
