I don't understand...if for years, the ticket has been linked with your finger shape, how could it recognize your fingerprint when you use the new system for the first time??? :veryconfu

I hope these finger scanners won't be like the ones at Universal Studios where it get so dirty from other people's fingers, it never works and always needs to be cleaned.

Disney fans' hands are always cleaner than Universal fans' hands.

I think you have to "reprogram" it every time you get a new pass (for AP & Seasonal) At least that's what I remember doing.

The other passes would be programed when they're first used. It's possible that if you're using an old pass that still has days on it you may have to be rescanned for the new system?

But then, anyone could rescan their prints, and then end up ruining the pass for you...I don't know, I heard the scanners still do read your bone structures, it's just one finger instead of two.

The idea here isn't paranoia

Yes...

it is.

BTW, speak for yourself when talking about the wonderful things the ACLU does. They're like the mom who complains to a school and makes it so kids can't bring their friends baked goods....... it is about paranoia.

That reminds me of the time I made Emily Dickinson's recipe for some sort of bread, and it was full chock full of rum - and you could taste it. And the way it was baked, much like in Dickinson's day, it was at such a low temp, that it didn't really bake out like it would now adays, but my HS lit teacher was such a hippie that she thought it was a riot (same one who sang "Where have all the flowers gone?" with her guitar on day 1 of class - no i'm not kidding). Anywho.. back on topic.

I'm pretty sure that with the new scan you get reprogrammed to the one finger system, but you keep your old biometrics as well for the two finger ones still in place. For a week or two, while MK only had a few one-finger scans, i swear all of my scans kept resettingand taking forever as i changed parks. But now, it seems like the one-fingers are set and the two-fingers are set, seperately.

I was thinking the bad thing about these finger scaners is that how do you remember which finger that you use. And if you use the know finger and or use the wrong ticket (like my mom she holds hers and my sister's ticket because my sister would lose it). What would WDW do to you?

Most people use their right pointer finger - as illustrated. If you don't have or want to use that finger, you'll probably remember.

Your ticket should be signed. Typically WDW wont do anything, because they'll just ask for photo ID and by that point they'll have sorted it out. You should be able to recognize your own signature.

More changes the ACLU wants:

"It's a small world" will changed to "It's a little persons world"

"The Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse" will now be changed to "The nondescript european Robinson Family Tree"

"Alien Encounter" was to have been renamed "The Undocumented Extraterrestrial Encounter", that is why Stitch took it over!

"Hall of Presidents" is to be renamed "Hall of Shrouded Tyrants" (They seem to hate Presidents, which ever political affiliation.)

"Main Street USA" is to be renamed "Capitalistic Imperial Boulevard"

"Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party" will now be know as "Mickey's Winter Event" unless of course he converts to Islam, then it can be "Mickey's Very Islamic Ramadan" after all according to the ACLU, Christians and Jews are the majority, Muslims aren't therefore they get extra protection under the ACLU's interpretation of the Constitution.

One final note...

SCREW the ACLU!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!!!

We saw the Nativity they have setup in MGM last year and the first thing I said was "Wonder how long till some lawyer gets ahold of that?"

If it goes against mainstream America the ACLU just seems to love it.

What ever happened to the will of the people.

What an incredibly narrow-minded view of the ACLU. Is "mainstream America" really this ignorant?

Wow, thanks for the reminder, I totally didn't even think about that, my best friend is 33 and has been diagnosed w/Early Onset Rheumatoid Arthritis and I know some days are good and some are horrid. So my questions is this...say they go can she (or others like her) start right off the bat w/the ID option? Or do they still want a scan?

I don't particularly mind the whole scan thing, it just seems that I always get stuck behind the family (not really minding the people who can't do it physically) I'm meaning the ones who stick their tickets in upside down and backwords 3-4 times or stand in front of the turnstile deciding which person should go through first.

I wouldnt mind if Disney did actually use fingerprints. I would even feel more safe if they did use the prints and check them against the FBIs or whoever elses database. That would only make the place even more safe. Ive got nothing to hide. Disney already has quite a bit of my personal info from when I made my reservation, They have my credit card number, The poly has held my drivers license with my SSN # on it to rent a boat, who cares, all of your personal information is out there anyway. The reservation system keeps info on it like your kids names, ages, your last visit, your name , your wifes name, and who knows what else. You hapily give them your credit card again when you check in for room charging. In the grand scheme of things I dont mind that they are trying to keep people from sharing their passes and making everyone pay on their own to enjoy the magic just like all the honest paying visitors.

ACLU = Absolutely Crap Utterly Laughable :)

- Dani D.

the view of the poster do not necessarily reflect the view of the company that the poster works for

I will not go into how I feel about ACLU, I will leave my acronym for that.

Disney has every right to protect itself financially and people need to stop being so paranoid.

Know what, I hope they are taking everyones fingerprints, checking them against open warrants, FBI most wanted lists, known terrorists...etc. I hope I see a big tree tackle someone to the ground, handcuff them and drag them away as I am entering the parks next time. Me and my family have no such wants, are no threat to the parks, the Disney Corp. or other guests. If it bothered me so much I have my freedom, the freedom to not spend my money on Disney property. For we all may think it is "Our" special place but it is still indeed PRIVATE PROPERTY. Hope Disney posts a sign restricting all ACLU activists from entering unless they participate in the finger scan and accompanying electrical shock. Lots of other things to be fighting for out there people, this is not one of them. Clearly it is only for entry reasons and fraud/theft of services concerns that they do it. It is quicker than having to provide countless ID documents. Grow up. Swipe your finger or don't. Makes the lines smaller for the rest of us.

Thank you....although I wouldn't mind seeing a tree cuff somebody up.....although I always like watching someone getting cuffed that has it coming.:fork:

I have a stupid question. Whether you are using the old biometric system or the new "fingerprint" systmem the information from the scanner at the turnstyle is linked to you and stored on your ticket/pass.....am I correct so far? If this is correct why do they need to store any data for 30 days? I guess I just don't understand why there needs to be a central place where the data is kept for 30 days if it is always going to be on your pass..maybe I am missing something?!?!

Nothing is kept on your pass. The turnstile can not write to the pass. Encoded on the pass is essentially just a number xyz for example. When you enter the park your biometric data is stored on their computer system and linked to pass xyz. The next time you insert your park ticket it reads ticket xyz and then checks to see if your finger(s) match those that it has on file for that ticket.

Ok..I still don't understand. They are saying that they are only going to store the data on the system for 30 days....so how does that prevent someone from using someone elses ticket several months to a year later.
