Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

Info/rumours about SM4 have been shared by insider disneylandmagic on the French fan forum:
According to information shared by insider disneylandmagic on the French fan forum today, Space Mountain at Disneyland Park is expected to close in October 2027 and reopen in summer 2029. The refurbishment would include partial re-tracking and new show elements inspired by the 1995 version, rather than a full recreation.

Beyond this, there are no major new attractions planned for Disneyland Park in the coming years, aside from refurbishments and smaller additions. The next large-scale new ride after Lion King is expected to be built at Disney Adventure World, not in Disneyland Park. Pandora?

Seems like he also just shared some new Info/rumours about the third DAW expansion land according to a post on the French fan forum:

**A new world is coming to Disney Adventure World!**

While Disneyland Paris will soon open Frozen World to the public, and The Lion King is preparing to go vertical in just a few short weeks, the next chapter is already being written.

WDI is actively working to continue developing this park, which will allow guests to immerse themselves in the favorite worlds of European visitors. A world where magic, immersion, and adventure come to life around this lake, the heart of Disney Adventure World.

The choice of the next world has been under consideration for some time. First, Pandora, imagined for quite some time, generated a lot of buzz. Fans were quickly convinced: Pandora would arrive next in this park. "Navi" was a hidden clue, as we recall.

While all of this seemed quite coherent, the Kingdom can tell you that Pandora is not the chosen one. The decision was made fairly recently. Instead, you will have to set sail, go where the horizon and the sea touch the sky and will call to you.

**Yes, the Kingdom can tell you exclusively: The next World will be entirely dedicated to the world of Moana!**
🌊

This "World" should be located between Cars Road Trip and Frozen and will feature a new "mountain," more of a volcano. Maybe even Te Fiti, who knows? The main attraction should be an immersive, family-friendly water coaster with a large dark ride section. These are the current plans, but the theme is finalized.

This "World" is planned for 2032, to coincide with the 40th anniversary. An announcement is possible in 2027 or 2028, after which construction can begin.

**Get ready for a thrilling adventure and a fresh, colorful world at Disney Adventure World!**

🤔

So another family water ride with long dark ride section ….. to mirror the one opposite…..and the one next to it. 6 years away, 4 years after LK opens. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Can’t they at least do something different?

If this is true I am definitely not impressed.

@mrflo , which fan forum is this from? I tried tracing back through the posts but couldn’t find a link.
DisneyCentralPlaza: "Rumor: Vaiana/Polynesia Attraction [Adventureland/Disney Adventure World]"
Apparently the original rumour was posted on Discord.

I thought Moana would have been a candidate for the Adventureland expansion plot
That was actually the original plan according to the info in that thread above.

I am personally not a fan of that decision/rumour. But considering what already happened with SW:GE being replaced by LK - which would have also better fitted in Adventureland - I am not surprised and seeing an unfortunate pattern here.

As in the one IP that would get them to actually do something with that space
Interesting. As with many Disney projects this feels like many idea/projects/rumours added together which may amount to something?

People said Lion King was planned for Adventureland (which I hadn't heard and I don't believe would fit as a land based in animation/fiction) but then Moana I had heard as a possibility for Adventureland which I think would fit much better based on the Polynesian region and based on myth and legend. It does feel like DLP want to develop Adenvureland. Could Indiana Jones finally be coming to DLP after so many years after coming to DAK? Who knows, but a thought.

Moana water coaster in DAW? I mean to me this feels brave with people concerned about how Lion King will be suitable 365 as to me water coaster sounds much more outside than Lion King. Unless it is an all indoor Mack rocking boat like the new Dollywood attraction? Which did show some similarities to the proposed DAK Moana boat ride? Either way DAW desperately needs another family friendly coaster so I'd generally support this.

Even thought I think Pandora in DAW and Moana water ride/water coaster would be a better fit for Adventureland.

Also I wonder how much the box office of The Mandalorian and Grogu will impact a possibly Disoveryland Star Wars sub-land? There was so much talk about this a while back but... more recent silence?

Recall that Disney really tend to announce projects shortly after approval, very reliably. So if this doesn’t feature at D23, I will cast aspersions on it actually being a greenlit project.

Not to say I don’t believe it, but if it’s green lit as implied I doubt it’s kept a secret for 18+ months.

I feel right now we are getting into the phase right before D23 where every rumour starts getting thrown at the wall. To try and get their project improved, distract? Who knows.

Moana is very very overdue to show up somewhere, globally.

Yet DLP has the history (barring the big WDSP 2.0 announcements with Macron) of announcing projects just as the permits are due to be filed as opposed to any internal approval.

For their big attractions, though? The time between their small stuff and permitting is not as long.

I’m kind of thinking of Lion King.

From memory Lion King was announced D23 August 2024 and permits were filed April 2025. So I admit that is quite a gap. I have a feeling the permits being filed was delayed slightly due to some... financial pressures so the intended gap was smaller.

Either way I wouldn't personally expect an August 2026 announcement for permits being filed early 2027. It feels at least a year early on the more optimistic timescales but I'd be happily proved wrong.
