Would you rather have injured or dead workers?
of course not...but it seems at times the regulations are excessive...akin to a meteor striking the planet...yes it could happen, but are the odds so minuscule to warrant the extra steps? I'm not in that field so I'm not pretending to be an expert. It's just my perception. And I've read numerous articles from multiple reputable sources saying that regulations are a (if not the) major reasons why home prices have surged in recent decades.

NB: In my managerial job I have to deal with regulations daily and I can say from my firsthand experience their onerous nature make me question the benefit.

2 examples from just the last month:

A professional musician (quite famous I don't want to give the name...yet..... but I'll ask if he'll give me permission...he performed at Disneyland numerous times for example) wanted to perform for a little benefit concert. When I told him the regulations he said, "how about this, I'll do it as a volunteer, as a gift?"

I found out that he still had to do all the paperwork/forms/fees/etc.

A speaker could still fall on someone's foot don't ya know!

2nd. Someone wanted to rent my parking lot for a couple days so the film crew would have a place to park while doing a shoot several miles away. We did it last year no problem. I had nothing going on those days, and they would be at the opposite side of the property anyway.

Nope: still had to fill the forms/pay the fees/get the multiple approvals.

Someone can fall out of their car after they parked!

We were able to get it done with moments to spare. Those parked cars sure caused alot of havoc!

There are more lawyers in South Florida alone than all of Japan.

From yesterday: Bi-partisan (so NOT political and YES still on topic...so I'm really hoping this isn't deleted lol?) move to post all Fed Regs so Americans don't accidentally become felons.

I also (begrudgingly) acknowledge there's much more regulation in 2025 than 1955 or 1971 :(
Regulation really isn’t the issue that slows down Disney. The regulations are known and even in places like California and Florida where they change every three years and that’s still the result of a 4+ year cycle.

Buildings have also become more complex. Magic Kingdom was built with a central computer room to control attractions but they didn’t envision a network of cash registers at the stores.

Disney’s problems are far more internal than external.

Housing is different. The big regulatory hurdles are zoning and development related, limiting where and what type of housing can be built. Disney’s parks in the US are pretty much free and clear of zoning issues.

Encanto show building has gone vertical as of today.
Not a very good picture but you can see the steel in place in the bottom center of the picture.

It's a milestone worth celebrating on every construction project
Why? Visibility is a function of the wall placement, not anything related to the actual work.

Being cynical and snide about vertical construction in a thread about construction progress has got to be a new level of miserable even for this forum
Vertical construction doesn’t mean steel and has been going on for some time now. All of those concrete walls they’ve been pouring are vertical construction.

people being negative about construction for the land that's being a vast improvement and Joe Rhode consulted should take a Time Machine back to the chapeak 2020 days. also for the love of Walt this is Disney, it should be fun, not something to be miserable
I very much appreciate the positivity. I’ve actually been more negative than usual myself so I welcome this as a slap in the face to get me off this negative vibe.
