So, Sunday was Carolyn’s Mother’s side of the family annual family reunion/Thanksgiving celebration.
Not quite as many were there this year as last year, but last year was gang busters compared to recent years, due to things like Covid, those away at college, etc.
So, still a very good turnout…!!! :)

We (Carolyn, Matthew, Sarah and myself), along with one of Carolyn’s aunts and a cousin, got there about 9:50a to start setting up (tables, tablecloths, chairs, etc.). Carolyn has volunteered to take charge of much of the festivities in recent years. The memorial table pictures, name tags, decorations, etc….!!! :)

Anyway, a pic below of the guest book, change of info and donations table…hey, the hall rental costs money, as well as other things involved in this production…!!! ;)

Sarah and Megan putting the name tags on that table…yes, there are that many family members, although they, obviously, don’t all show up, for various reasons. We try to get everyone to RSVP, but sometimes they don’t, so we just make tags for everyone still with us…!!! ;)

Pics of the memorial table below.
The second pic shows the patriarch and matriarch of the family at the far left, and my MIL, Shirley, at the far right.
And yes, grandpa Schmidt had quite the honker of a schnoz on him…!!!!! :hilarious:;)

A coupla’ general pics of the gathering below…!!! :geek:

The food, including the kitchen bar counter, and the dessert table…pics taken after the major stampede…JK, LOL and all that jazz…!!!!! :hilarious:;)

My plate of a tamale, sliced ham, sliced sausage, Brussels sprouts, white and dark meat turkey, spinach casserole, cheesy potatoes, sauerkraut, green bean casserole and corn casserole…!!!!! :hungry::hungry::hungry:

No pics of desserts, as I was so stuffed my dessert plate was paltry, but I had small servings of a cranberry, apple, oatmeal crumble dish, along with some tapioca pudding, pecan pie and a small piece of peanut brittle…!!!!! :hungry:

After we ate, there were more festivities…!!! :geek:
A family trivia contest that is always a hoot, family updates and announcements, a closing prayer (we also always have an opening prayer in English along with The Lords Prayer in German), and a closing hymn.
Then…cleanup and takedown, which I always participate in (as well as the previously mentioned setup).
But, by then, I had to make a quick visit to the men’s room, which lasted maybe 3 minutes, and the vast majority of it was already done when I walked out…!!!!! :hilarious:

Biased ;), and blessed I am, indeed, but…
Our families are, simply, the best…!!!!!!! :joyfull: :inlove:

You know what I don't understand.

People slamming on their breaks whenever they see a cop.

There are many things I don’t understand about drivers, especially these days…
I file it all under a general category I have termed HUBS (Head Up Butt Syndrome).
Pretty sure most on the road have never even read a drivers manual, in any state.
As far as police officers (other emergency vehicles, etc.) having folks pulled over here, you are supposed to move at least one lane away from them, or, if you can’t safely do so, slow down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit, as you pass by.
We’ve all seen the videos related to not doing so.
Not sure if that’s a law where you live.
But, there are just so many drivers out there that seem to have their heads where the sun don’t shine, heads buried in their phones, whatever…
• Crossing three lanes of traffic like a shot because they’re not paying attention.
• Not staying their lane.
• not understanding how and why they need to yield.
• Not knowing how to enter a highway/freeway from the on-ramp.
• Not checking their blind spot, and almost sideswiping others.
The list goes on.
My favorites are the LLBP (Left Lane Bandit Police)…
I don’t give a rats fat rear if you’re doing the speed limit, or even 10 mph above it, move your sorry butt over, because someone else may wanna’ do 30 mph, or more, over it…cops will tell you that, because your just muckin’ up traffic, and makin’ it even more dangerous, plus road rage.
And, on that note, the “side-by-siders” may be even worse, now that I think about it.
Lead, follow, or get the friggin’ hell outta’ the way, you moron hole.
I hate driving anymore.

I agree with all the above. The only time I sorta like driving around, is early on a Sunday morning, because all the morons are off the roads and sleeping in . . .
