Absolutely believe the cadence is: Avengers Campus Expansion -> Coco -> [lull] -> Avatar.
I think this will be a matter of hubris on the company based on what happened in Paris. If things - in the broadest sense - remain on track the way they are, travel costs will remain uber expensive, people will be more selective about where they go and how they spend, and international tourists in general are very, very wary about America due to our current politics. All of these are factors that Paris didn't have to deal with, at least not to the extent the 2028 games might.Or will they think the Olympics will draw guests to visit Disneyland so they don't need to open anything in 2028??
I am fairly certain one of our numbers people before the Paris Olympics (might have been parentsof4) noted that typically locations see a decrease in attendance during the olympics, so for many this was not a surprise effect of the olympics. I am fairly whoever gave the data had some good explanations for it. But I think one can understand the reasoning if they think about it enough. One factor I would see is that people are spending a lot of money to come to an area to watch the largest sporting event over 4 years - they typically aren't setting aside some of their money for other things (not everybody falls into this category, but certainly a majority do). I would think you would see a bigger bump from a thing like the World Cup as games for a home country are played less often, so people are often looking for filler activities.I do think how Disney views the Olympics is going to influence some of the construction timeline. They've already admitted that DLP saw a decrease in attendance in 2024 because of the Paris Olympics. Will they see 2028 as needing something new to prevent attendance decrease like they saw in Paris, or something in 2029 to bring guests back who skipped Disneyland/DCA in 2028 because of the Olympics. Or will they think the Olympics will draw guests to visit Disneyland so they don't need to open anything in 2028??
Cost Savings. If Avatar land is 2030, why close Monsters in so early next year? They still need to build the new parking structure before razing the bus load/unload area and finally getting to the Monsters and WWTBAM building. One would think they could get another year out of Monsters Inc before demo.
If 2030 is the timeline for Avatar with an assumed 2027 construction start. Well then 2026 will be the year of the EGW build out. This includes not only the parking structure but the pedestrian bridge and new Harbor entrance plaza. If Avatar land is 2030, why close Monsters in so early next year? Since Avatar is not even taking up the whole backlot, part of me wonders if a 2029 debut is still doable. If 2030 is the timeline for Avatar with an assumed 2027 construction start. The idea around here has been that they need a temporary entrance area and walkway while building the new one. So that is probably why Monsters is closing “early”.
Is it not taking up all of.the Backlot (other than PhilarMagic whose entrance is no longer in the Backlot) and the.bus loop behind?Since Avatar is not even taking up the whole backlot, part of me wonders if a 2029 debut is still doable.

As I understand it Avatar is taking up all of the backlot except Phils. The only thing that may remain in my opinion is some of the facades facing Hollywood Blvd to block land sight lines. Is it not taking up all of.the Backlot (other than PhilarMagic whose entrance is no longer in the Backlot) and the.bus loop behind?
To me 2030 would be the latest Avatar would open. The 2031-2032 timeframe would be all on the first phase of Simba. As I understand it Avatar is taking up all of the backlot except Phils. As for opening 2029 is possible, but I think everyone has settled in on 2030 or even 2031 given a 3ish year construction window.
It’s possible, it all depends on when they start construction on the land itself. If it starts any later than 2027 we’re looking at 2031.To me 2030 would be the latest Avatar would open. The 2031-2032 timeframe would be all on the first phase of Simba.

Do we think the AquaBots at the end of the video could be used in the Avatar Boat Ride??

I also suspect a lot of local DL summer attendees will take vacations outside of LA while the Olympics are in town, meaning they'll spend their vacation money elsewhere that year instead.Absolutely.
And anyone planning a visit not for the Olympics will avoid that period like the plague. Higher travel and hotel costs etc
