DAK “Zootopia” is being created for the Tree of Life theater

With the approach they took with this show it would honestly fit better... slightly... at Epcot. It's very frustrating how often they use an IP and with some effort could still make it fit thematically, but of course instead you just get a rehash of what was in the films.

Frozen Ever After - use Frozen characters to talk about Nordic and Viking stuff? Nah, just recap the movie.
The Seas with Nemo - use Nemo characters to talk about the ocean and coral reefs? Nah, just recap the movie.
Cosmic Rewind - Put an emphasis on the big bang, energy sources, etc? Nah, just have a big bad guy do big bad guy stuff.
Ratatouille - have Remy take you on a daring tour through Paris and show you French cuisine? Nah, just have the bad guy chase you around.

This could have and should have talked about their different biomes or something. Instead the only, and literally only thing that ties it to DAK is the fact that they are animals.
This is a good post, and I agree with you.

They can do better.

I find it funny that the Dung Brotherrs Dung ball was rename as the paw pact that were soils that were collected from the different biomes of Zootopia..But, we all know what it really is...

Symbolic, considering the current feedback this new show seems to be getting equates it to a giant pile of ….

What a world we live in for all people being welcome to be a “controversial political take”.
Just depressing.

I won’t get into politics here though but oof. Animal Kingdom is inherently a sociopolitical park. That’s just how it was designed

Yes corporate virtue signaling at its finest appealing to the most suggestible. Pandering to some while alienating others. Of course the term is a logical paradox, because if all are welcome does that include people who don’t want to welcome others?

Wrong. DAK was created to entertain and educate through immersive design and quality attractions. Epcot used to do that as well.

Oh it’s not you…thankfully

We just have a lot of those who are not old enough to remember the Clinton years who have very strong…if Invalid…opinions about how management and WDI have not produced lesser results under the Emperor…

Which always seems curious since the comparison can’t academically be made with no basis. Watching vloggers and podders shill for free tickets doesn’t qualify…

But i’m Glad you have just committed to NOT do that…I’m on your team 👍🏻👍🏻

I do believe there is a level of nostalgia about certain attractions that makes people believe they are better than they are/were. But I will say that since theme parks are experience based products, I feel like they are heavily subjective anyway. I have heard all kinds of rides being people’s favorite and I think it’s valid so

Is that your italicized confirmation that you won’t defend things that don’t deliver simply because it’s been 3 days since you went to Magic kingdom and you miss it? 😱

I mean that’s literally the point of Zootopia. It’s about the failed inequality between two classes. Won’t debate on the second part because I feel that goes away from the point of the actual sign.

Unfortunately, we’ve come to a point though that environmentalism has become a political issue. Again I’m not going to comment to avoid getting off subject or making generalizations

Italicization was a mistake. I defend attractions I genuinely like. No matter the park. I will defend Universal, Sea World, Busch Gardens, Disney, Six Flags attractions if they are actually good

The idea of DAK was to encourage conservation through entertainment. Which was correct and noble. Hard to dispute.

It’s not about people mining the past for current grievances, culture baiting, or redefining our history and evolution…

It’s not about “us”…

Just like these new stupid DCL ads are silly. They’re not designed for the adults.

Those are the things that have gotten them a lot of trouble…and less money…since they leaned too heavily into it over the last few years.

Ok…makes sense

But you might want check your list again. A lot of underwhelm on it. Rides that might have been fine at Boardwalk and Baseball…but not up to the Disney rep…let alone price

Totally agree with this. However, I think you’d wanna add to that that It’s more than just talking about this stuff that we’d wanna see. It’s ‘exploring’ these real-world concepts, cultural activities, & environments. Truly experiencing & Interacting with them in ways that are engaging, showing the very best these experiences & concepts can offer, in a way only WDI could do. You can have some fun with it too, but again, it has to stay thematically consistent. Think how Cranium Command for instance portrayed/showcased controlling the brain & regulating through a day. It needs to be done in a way that’ll stick with you as a great experience you’d want to repeat again & again.

So again, what exactly is wrong with the message “everyone is welcome”?

I didn’t ask about Zootopia, or animal kingdom. I asked that poster what was wrong with the message they highlighted.

Seems pretty innocuous to me, the message specifically.
What’s wrong with it? That it’s clearly wrong. Ride the Safari and take a look at how they have to have high voltage chains between each section to prevent the animals from crossing over. As I said, predators, eat prey. So, it makes no sense for a park that is all about nature and conservation to have an attraction with animals that defy the laws of nature.

Whether this show fits or not in this case is almost irrelevant to me when it’s just plain bad. Not even close to a “this doesn’t fit the park at all but at least it’s a good attraction” case.
I find this a frequent refrain for bad product…

Parsing irrelevant details

“It’s not bad…it would just be better here…”
Translates to
“It’s BAAADDDD”

…I’m forced to agree

See this is the slippery slope

Bugs life was corny and cheeky…but it wasn’t really off theme: the importance of insects

This appears to be stupidity. Fine for a kiddie land…but disney parks are not supposed to have kiddie lands.

And this also is the problem with the grand wizard of IP peddling

Avatar doesn’t belong there either…it’s sci fi

But the loose conservation ties combined with the quality give it a place

Now bad efforts with a shameless movie franchise plug?

Nah…not playing this
