News Tomorrowland love

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters was fit into the CircleVision theaters at Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris but the CicleVision theater at Magic Kingdom is somehow too small?
I think you are going to partially get your wish. I think they will permanently close laugh floor in tomorrow land but move it to Monsters in DHS.

I think both the stitch area and Laugh floor area will end up permanently closed.

This will result in a net loss of attractions in MK which lowers costs for Disney, and Disney knows the MK packs them in no matter what is offered.
In virtually everything I've seen & read about the TSI closure the last 14+ months, the "CAPACITY!" argument was loudly echoed over and over. The space originally occupied by Circlevision seems comparable to the space of the perpetually-popular Buzz. Likewise, Stitch's footprint seems decent too (and it's currently little more than a glorified break room right now?). That's a lot of "capacity" (nevermind it's central location). So, my "theory" (hope?) is that upgrades at both WDW's & DL's Tommorrowlands (based on many reasons discussed here and elsewhere) will be the major theme of the "theme park" panel of next years D23Expo (or am I being too optimistic lol?)

Let's face it, the reason why Stitch is sitting empty is because Disney doesn't have any popular science fiction IPs that aren't already in the parks.

Well, aside from Lilo and Stitch, but maybe they're just too afraid to do a new Stitch attraction after the failure of the first one?

Not saying im for this, but did remember seeing a rumor a while back for an incredibles show in there, with a mid century futuristic theme to match the Contemporary rooms. Against the rooms but not against an incredibles show, after all it's just a show. but rather want stitch ride

I mean, they have one! But it mostly involve an Alien getting lose and brutally killing people one by one, and I don't think that's something they want at Magic Kingdom.

Wait a minute...I was told (by a bus driver no doubt, so you know its true!) the reason it was empty was because the asbestos, or the sink hole, or the ghost of <walt/little girl/cast member who died on it/christmas past> (delete as appropriate) meant they couldn't touch that land?!

maybe just a complete lack of ideas on how to put an attraction in the space... They have certainly run out of ideas on how to follow the theme of each resort without making them all look like a Marriott....lol Or more likely they just don't care. People will still come and pay their price hikes...

From what I understand the Stitch building is also very small and doesn't have a lot of room for other types of attractions that don't fit the existing show footprint.
still can't help but wonder if they can combine the 2 theaters + indoor queue into something nice? (but, if the Ralph revamp was/is true, it would seem to keep this 54 year-old format) 🤷‍♀️

Asbestos can be dealt with and Disney already undertook a massive asbestos abatement program back around the turn of the century that encompassed most of the original Walt Disney World facilities.

We’ve seen renovation work around the Magic Kingdom in recent years without abatement being involved. There’s the new lounge in Frontierland. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters across the way is currently closed for work. They’re just knocking things down over on Tom Sawyer Island.

On TSI, did they lock the door leading to the Utilidors?

Are there code required upgrades that would require they do work to the rest of the building (Cosmic Rays, etc) as well if they were to try to do work on Stitch?

This has been asked before....the consensus seems to be "no." For example, while Toad became Pooh (no pun intended!), Snow White stayed open. Can offer other examples from over the decades....

Incredible 3 needs to be in space.
Indeed. Three ideal avenues: Aliens, Time Travel or Rogue Technology all of which were featured in heavy rotation during the Silver Age of Comics and during the Space Race mania. Many supers (and villains) of cosmic origin and other sci-fi tropes (like time travel and space travel) fit that Tomorrowland mold. They really, really do need Incredibles 3 locked into something that works with Tomorrowland.

Not really. Modernization is generally limited to the area of work and something that Disney does proactively address. The big thing to trigger a complete, whole-building modernization is a change in use. An attraction is an Assembly occupancy, whether it’s a theater show, a ride or a walk-through. The building also contains a restaurant (Assembly occupancy) and retail (Mercantile occupancy). Assembly is already a fairly restrictive occupancy classification since it deals with large groups of people in unfamiliar places, and there is then additional requirements for what are called Special Amusements. They’d have to do some ridiculous like turn the building into a hotel (Residential occupancy) or a school (Educational occupancy) to trigger a truly major whole-building modernization.
