EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

Is this space routinely rented out?
Good question. I think the success of that will likely determine what ultimately happens to it.

It's really odd that someone seemed to push hard for having an outdoor stage and indoor venue, and then when it became operational, could not find anything to use it for. I don't think a semi-permanent Encanto show was in the original plans.

I think it was the idea of being able to rent it out...otherwise there is no reason they could not have actually designed an engaging interior that would still allow for changing exhibits...instead of the school cafeteria/ empty convention hall interior we currently have....

Disney feels their guests need to constantly be assaulted with blasting music because that means fun....lol
This past weekend when I was on Property, particularly at some Resorts, I noticed this.

The All Star Resorts various food courts had tween and twenty something pop music blasting in half empty dining halls.
The sound was bouncing around off of those bare walls and made for a auditory overload.

The choice of music also made the spaces feel like your average contemporary mall food court….which they have been the case for a while now, but the change in music was jarring to my ears.

I personally preferred the previous playlist in these particular areas, which was just Disney songs in general from various films and Attractions.
Not the hip, latest version of similar selections done by some tween idol wannabe at a breakneck tempo and ‘brickwalled’ audio quality.
At peak volume.
Yick.

( old dragon rant over…)

I do know artists complained during the last Art Festival of how loud it was since some were located directly under the overhang (and even ones in the general area found it to be a nuisance). They liked being centrally located but absolutely hated the noise of the stage. Made it difficult to actually talk to guests.

I'm curious if they'll tone down the music for the next festival or move the artists somewhere else. Though moving them means more temp tents scattered around, thus defeating the purpose of the flex space.

I will say I actually like the outside of CommuniCore hall, I think though the idea of it being a flex space is a flawed one given we already have the Odyssey for a flex space and the building between UK and Canada (until that becomes ride one day hopefully). point being don't think we need CommuniCore hall as a flex space, honestly wish it was any other one of the followings
- a history of EPCOT section
- a food cooking class area with themes of the festivals
- the og idea of using it as the heart of the festivals
- a dedicated pin trading area
- moving the planter/planters in here so we can get a fountain in the middle
- an area to show models for upcoming projects
- an area where we get smaller exhibits for different countries not in the World Showcase
- convert the building into something else entirely more like the OG Idea

ie anything permanent and better long term

I don’t, honestly. It was planned to be the “softer”, more natural side of the hub with greenery and curved shapes, but CommuniCore is instead way sharper and harsher than Connections/Creations. It contrasts in a way that doesn’t really make visual sense. IMO, they should just take the hit with both this and the planter in the not-too-distant future and try again. They have a built-in excuse to frame it as less of an outright failure by saying that they’re revisiting things impacted by COVID.

So they have the Odyssey, WoL builidng, and the Millenium building that can be used as "flex space" (for better or for worse, since they cannot seem to come up with any sort of cohesive plan or vision on at least two of those). And yet some genius in management greenlit this as a "flex space". One that potentially will not be used as a flex space during Epcot's biggest festival this year? 🤔

To be fair, WoL was supposed to be (and should be) back in the attraction rotation, and the World Showplace should 100% be another national pavilion. CommuniCore is more aptly located for the function it’s supposed to serve, but one does wonder why they keep building such spaces and subsequently neglecting them. Aren’t event rentals typically outside of normal hours anyway? Couldn’t they have just made a conglomerated M&G + festival food space that could convert for rental in the evening? Why the need for the empty hall? Then they could have easily puzzled in a flat ride or something instead of the useless lawn and stage.

Demolition.
Oh Gawd, please…YES…!

What a total waste of space.
And to think of the beautiful , purpose built building we LOST for this quick and cheap replacement.

I will say the exterior colored lights are kinda cool….but I would rather have the other matching Communicore building back.
It should never have been bulldozed to the ground.

What is the update on WOL anyway? Haven't heard anything on the building or PLAY in ages other then play was cancelled. Honestly surirpised they haven't just demoed the building at this rate
Why bother when there is such an obvious vehicle to restore WOL literally staring it in the face and the fact that they have not jumped to this conclusion that I did years ago is quite infuriating.

Even sadder from what I understand is that they still reference it on the monorail since they haven't updated a new narration after Tom Kane's Stroke...

And from what I can tell is that some ideas got transferred of to the Animation building since it's dealing with mostly interactive based things there..
