Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

I looked back on Fresh Baked's coverage of Galaxy's Edge construction and here are some progression images of the RotR show building. The first one seems like where Infinity Defense will be at in the next few weeks to month. This would suggest the exterior of the show building is about 18 or so months from completion (late 2026 or early 2027).

Given the guest-facing facade looks to be standard office park materials (not elaborate rockwork, theming, scenic painting, landscaping...), maybe it would also wrap up at the same time?

Then maybe another 6 more months for the interior/ride to be finished/tested? (Assuming they've started inside at some point along the way, before the exterior was completed).

Yes, that could put opening maybe Summer of 2027, then Coco in 2028, Pandora in 2030.

Yep, I agree, about 18ish months left to complete these two attractions and opening time frame. Which is why I said summer 2027 is probably the target, and winter 2026 is even doable if they wanted to coincide with Doomday opening in theaters.

And GE in DL is probably the best gauge for how long Avatar in HL will take, 3ish years from land clearing to opening. Putting its opening potentially in late 2029 to summer 2030.

One thing going for the construction of this building is the lack of rockwork.

Unless they build Avengers Mountain!
Yes, the building materials all look to be the usual go-to materials you see in every airport or convention center nowadays. Heck, the trusses above Stark Flight Lab can be seen at Costco. It's kind of brilliant the way they've interpreted their comic book IP in such a generic, everyday way: they can pivot easily, bring in a corporate sponsor, or maybe just use it as an annex for the Anaheim convention center. 🤣

Can you link it? I’d love to join and see their discussion
There is no "discussion", its just a line in their latest Disneyland Update article that are published every Monday. You can find it on their main page.

And based on how its worded in the article, I can say its an assumption on their part.

"Stark Flight Lab will plunge guests into Tony Stark’s workshop, where they’ll pilot “gyro-kinetic pods” using experimental flying technology straight from the genius’s lab. Think robotic arms lifting guests into the air and thrashing them about while they wear VR helmets. "

So I wouldn't read anything into it until its confirmed by Disney at this point. Because as far as I can tell there has been no indication by Disney that it would be a VR attraction.

Definitely no mention of VR prior to this, which I've thought was an odd exclusion. I'm not the first to say it, but Flight Lab may be more fun to watch than experience. Being thrown around on something like a high tech carnival ride is fine. However, VR could evolve that into the thrill ride the land has been missing. The closest to an allusion of something like that was the announcement that ride will feature different heroes, each with unique ride profiles. Not exactly conclusive, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

This is truly the first ground-up DLR project in the age of everyone having a camera in their pocket that is construction is generally unobstructed to park guests. Cars Land I guess too was decently visible, although a lot of it was obstructed. Runaway Railways vertical construction was during the pandemic and Toontown was fully closed for the last leg of construction, Avengers Campus was hard to see and partially during the pandemic, Galaxy's Edge was very difficult to get views of from the park, Tiana's, Guardians, and Pixar Pier were rethemes, and Midway Mania was too early. Tower of Terror would have been the last big unobstructed project! Exciting times ahead!

Just wait until Avatar gets done, that'll be a whole land you'll be able to see going vertical both inside and outside the Park just like this.

I followed the entire DCA 2.0 construction, and RSR construction was plenty visible to everyone due to the size of the rockwork. They even built a loop of the track and tested cars early on.

Buena Vista street construction, The Little Mermaid, the construction of World of Color, etc. It was all visible and online.

And for all of you out there that followed along with me, the PoM.

Here's the loop of track to test cars before it was blocked out, courtesy of Disney Geek.

edit...I guess this truly was a test track.

The first attraction I remember being heavily covered due to smart phones was Finding Nemo Subs. Obviously, that wasn't ground-up though.

Do you think we will hear anything about the avengers rides these next few days? Or will we have to wait until next years event? I only ask because Disney said they wouldn’t be making any parks announcements this time around.
