Marvel's Fantastic Four

Thanks to the British Board of Film Classification, it is officially confirmed that The Fantastic Four has the exact same runtime as The Incredibles: 1 hour and 55 minutes long.

Fun fact: Despite the denial by Brad Bird, #TheIncredibles was inspired by The Fantastic Four and shares a similar superhero family theme. And, coincidentally, both The Incredibles and #TheFantasticFour were scored by Michael Giacchino, who also scored the last MCU movie w/ the same runtime as these 2 films and that’s the first #DoctorStrange from November 2016.

So considering this film did NOT have a troubled production, poor test screenings or massive reshoots like #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld, #ThorLoveAndThunder, and #TheMarvels did, this might actually be a solid movie to kick off Phase 6 of Marvel Studios’ Cinematic Universe after all.

So why go see it if it is a sudo-remake of the Incredibles? That theme music is jaring.

Hmm. Its ceiling is Superman’s opening weekend. And the director just announced they cut an entire villain altogether from the film.

I wouldn't call that the ceiling, as it certainly can go higher and MCU movies certainly have in recent years, but would call it the top end of the range of where it could open. Its a prediction, not a sure thing.

It’s actually tracking to open higher than Superman, at least going off of it having bigger preview numbers which may only be bigger if reviews are strong.

Also, Red Ghost was cut because they needed to balance the story.

Umm no. And this comes from Deadline - an Approved Source™️ - which says FF is running 20% below Superman’s presales and now is projected to open at $100-$110M.

I know this isn't your tweet, but I don't get these kinds of messages

"A couple people" "everybody seems to really like it" "even those that aren't big comic book fans"

So two people saw it and like it and one or possibly both of those people aren't big comic book fans. At least review aggregators are pulling from a large sample of critics and viewers. What do these two unknown people (three if you count the other tweeter's buddy) actually mean to us?

Hearing rumors about the social media embargo being lifted early, sometime tonight.

The guy is a regular on the John Campea show and has worked in the film industry for 20+ years. It's not some random person. I shared it for fans interested in early buzz, since reviews are not out yet, so just take it as a grain of salt.

👍 Just to clarify, my question wasn't about why you shared it but what one could actually take from the responses of a handful of people who get to see the movie before it's released. I guess it was more of a philosophical question lol

In the absence of reviews and pre-embargo, it’s meant to preemptively spur positive feelings and anticipation for the film.

Signed, someone who would start to get irrationally excited the first few times I saw a similar pre-embargo post suggesting the upcoming film was “the best DC film since The Dark Knight”

Deadline, which also tends to lowball a lot and used different tracking than independent box office trackers.

I’ll believe the independent ones over one owned by Penske Media, which is also owned by Disney.
