MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Rohdhe keeps building queue areas as the most exploration worthy parts of his projects. ITTBaB, Dinosaur, Kali, Everest, FoP. All sublime queues, but not easily explored at your leisure. Too detailed to rush through, not placed properly to be examined more closely.

Gives guests something new to check out with each visit. Something Walt really loved.

Nothing is stopping you from going through the queues multiple times.

I mean it was in every WDW park within three years after its release and was a major influence to the newest park opening right after.
When was there a Lion King attraction in Hollywood Studios? I don't think they even had a parade....
During that time Disney (90s-2000s) Disney was very slow at making rides for new IPs, if at all. So there's a big gap of IPs that were overlooked previously for attractions.
And Iger apparently doesn't like building attractions based on pre-2009 movies, unless they star a princess.

In the animation tour and Fantasmic, put into the The newest offering. I did not mean to imply stand alone attraction.

Iger has what I call the 1989 rule. If it was not newer than The Little Mermaid it most likely won't get a major investment.

I’d add to the above that the Coco/Moana/Villains plan we heard about before D23 made more financial sense and would have been genuinely exciting.
It was a very interesting D23 considering how much buildup there was regarding the announcement of new expansions and how flat most of it fell. That was even before it was confirmed where this new Cars area was going.

I am fairly sceptical that a Villains land is as good an idea as fans assume it would be, but if the D23 announcement had of been what you mention (a Coco area genuinely "beyond Big Thunder" leading to a villains land and a Moana attraction in Adventureland), I would have given them the benefit of the doubt. At least in that scenario, the worst that could happen would be new (a) addition/s would be disappointing. The rest of the park would still be there and would help with capacity either way. Nothing would have stood out as thematically inappropriate, either.

In the scenario they went with, Villains land is supposed to be the big payoff to justify everything they're doing to Frontierland. At least for me personally, the best case scenario is not that great and the worst case scenario is that they spend a lot of money irrevocably screwing up that whole side of the park.

I think you're grossly overthinking Galaxy's Edge and "Disneyland's story." Like a lot complaints on this board, it sounds like baseless criticism of any changes dressed up as an esoteric philosophical debate about the park.
Do you consider any criticism of changes to be baseless? For every person here that automatically hates any change that is made, there is a person who will mock and belittle anyone who doesn't step in line and love every change. It goes both ways here.

Maybe only two or three of those I see.

What's more likely to happen is that those who don't want the change start making ridiculous, or contradictory, or baseless claims. Very often just making stuff up off the top of their heads.

And when those unsubstantiated claims are challenged, they call the challengers pixie dusters and shills and think that they absolutely love the change.

Then there's a lot of "if you don't agree with my anger, you must be mentally deficient in some way" ad hominem attacks in which they portray themselves as victims of wrong-thinking people.

It's OK to not like the change. It's OK to like the change. It's not OK to make stuff up and attack the dignity of the person one disagrees with.

I agree. But for anyone to infer that the only people that are making stuff up and attacking others are people that don't like a change is simply not true. everyone in this forum should be able to have a civil debate about this stuff, and not engage in schoolyard antics.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: how on earth is the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island being destroyed BEFORE the Tomorrowland Speedway?
Agreed. People call TSI/ROA underutilized space, but TS definitely is. It's not unique and the kind of attraction you can find at alot of amusement/theme parks. Plus, it's kind of noisy and the smell of gas/exhaust is almost overwhelming. That space could fit two attractions that would be bigger people eaters than the Speedway.

Personally I think I am under- rather than overthinking the subject. My bar for deep thought doesn't hang so low that I reach it with a few sentences commencing with 'I can't quite explain why'.

Do share your thoughts on single IP lands in castle parks. Surely we can elevate the conversation above a snorefest meta-discussion about who is a fanboy or a hater.

Do you have any data to back that up? I've rarely ever seen a long line for the Speedway.
I don't have any capacity numbers...

The LLMP for speedway on average sells out before: Buzz Lightyear, Carpets, Pirates, Barnstormer, Mermaid, Dumbo, mad tea party, and small world.

Wait times in MK is currently pretty dead... but it does have a 10 min wait which is more than peoplemover, carpets, small world, dumbo and barnstormer (tied with Pirates and Mermaid)

It's not my cup of tea either... I never really ride it, but its far from a dead attraction.

Do you have anything to show that it is unpopular?
