Has Disney finally priced themselves out of reach of the average family?

Our most recent trip, obviously, wasn’t to WDW, or to take some overpriced Disney cruise to see fur characters (we’ve already taken one), and we have no plans to return to either anytime soon.
Make no mistake, we are Disney fans, and I first visited Disneyland in the summer of 1968, at age 5.
It’s all just gettin’ so much more planning and price heavy, by the day, to see the same stuff (sans the classics - we all have our own) trip after trip, and construction walls out the wazoo, so the suits and “Imagineers” can try to justify their jobs, via pulling out beloved attractions and replacing them with total IP garbage.
Folks might want to see more of the actual world, ‘cause Walt Disney “World” ain’t it…Just my, not so humble, opinion.

@donaldtoo , glad to hear that your cruise was fun. Looking forward to any pictures (FOOD! :hungry: ) or cruise commentary, after you get settled back home in the next few days.

Yes, since it wasn’t a Disney trip, I’ll do a bit of a TR here, and along with general pics, there will be plenty of food pics…!!!!! :hungry:
And, on a food note…
On our first 3 Carnival cruises the food was very delicious, and we looked forward to every meal. Our first post-Covid cruise was our Disney Magic cruise in Dec. of ‘22. Again, very delicious food, but not noticeably better than Carnival…except for our anniversary brunch at Palo, which was stellar…!!!!!!! :joyfull::hungry::inlove::happy:
On our 4th Carnival cruise (post-Covid) the food was not on par with our previous Carnival cruises.
It wasn’t bad, but most of it was just a step down.
We don’t know if, maybe, they still had a bunch of Covid leftovers in the freezer they wanted to use up, or what…?! 🤔:hilarious:
Anyway, the food was definitely back up to par on this trip…!!!!! :hungry:
And, with that, more fun and food pics to come soon…!!! :)

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Food pics … good.
Spilling the tea on why full cash refunds were offered … better!

@donaldtoo , On another topic, I've been watching the news about the devastating flash flooding in Texas. Sometimes, the news/weather people show a large block area on the map, and it looked (a little) like some of Austin might have been caught in some of the storms. (Hoping your specific area wasn't affected.)

Thanks for your concern, Minnie. It’s extremely tragic and heartbreaking.
Our general area was not affected, as we are not in a potential flood zone, but we got plenty of rain.
Daniel (SonIL and IT guru for Facebook) was the only one of us that had access to the outside world, via his iPhone, on this cruise.
These events can come out of nowhere, and are always way worse when they happen overnight.
When Megan and Sarah were selling all those Girl Scout cookies back in the ‘90’s and ‘00’s, to pay for summer camp (Camp Texlake on Lake Travis) we had to evacuate Megan once and Megan and Sarah together once, due to heavy upstream rains.
The camp proper is above the 100-year floodplain, but they would have been trapped there for a while if we didn’t go get them.
To be clear, the rising water was lapping at some of the low water crossings on the way in, and starting to cover them (6 inches), but not rushing, on the way out. If it would have been worse, we would have all turned around and gone back to camp proper, as long as needed to make safe passage out.
Keep in mind that, even though cell phones were becoming prominent at the time, we, and many others, did not have them. Each camp counselor called the emergency contact numbers of the girls in their cabins, well in advance, for parents to come get them out ASAP.
Prayers to all affected by this terrible tragedy.

OK, I’ll just get this one outta’ the way right now…
One word…bugs.
Small bugs of the roach variety.
As I’ve posted, we’ve been on 5 Carnival cruises now…no impolite fellow passengers to speak of (as a matter of fact most, including us, went out of their way to be polite), definitely no impolite crew members, no falling down drunks, no drunken brawls, etc., etc., etc.
But, for the first time…bugs.
It was not a huge infestation by any means, but we all know how quickly these things can get out of hand.
Megan took pics and video, to show maintenance (and they also witnessed them).
The general consensus was that previous cruisers in that stateroom probably had an infestation in some luggage they grabbed from their attic, garage, basement, etc.
There was originally talk of them moving to another room, but that presented another issue…as it was a sold out cruise, there were no more outboard staterooms like the kind they needed left on the ship.
We initially tried to get adjoining staterooms, but we ended up separated by 1 stateroom.
Anyway, they initially ended up with the $150 gift card. We used that at Emeril’s Bistro 717 for lunch on Friday. We ended up using just short of $120, so Megan put the remaining $30+ towards the lunch of another family…!!!!! :inlove:
After we got our food at Emeril’s is when the kids told us they got a full refund in CASH…!!!!!!! :joyfull:;)
There were several times I mentioned full refund and, lo and behold, they got one…!!! :)
Maintenance just never could seem to get the situation 100% under control while the kids were occupying the stateroom.
Which makes me wonder…
What about the next cruise, which was leaving at 4p yesterday, not very long after we disembarked…?! 🤔

The below pic is of the battleship USS Texas, undergoing the final stages of refurbishment in the Port of Galveston.
It is the last of the dreadnought battleships left in the entire world. It was launched in 1912, and commissioned in 1914. It participated extensively in both WWI and WWII, and was heavily used as a technological testbed, until being decommissioned in 1948…!!! :)

IMG_8190.jpeg

And, a few quick fun (to me, anyway ;)) facts from our cruise…!!! :)
• We averaged a speed of about 15 knots on the way down, and about 20 knots on the way back.
• Total nautical miles travelled was 2,084.
• the shallowest water depth I saw was in the middle of the US continental shelf below Texas at 43’ deep.
• the deepest water depth I saw in the middle of the Gulf was 2.16 miles.
• The deepest water depth I saw for the entire trip was 2.84 miles, between Roatan and Costa Maya.
• The static air temps varied between the low 70’sF and the high 80’sF.
• And, the ocean on this entire cruise was the calmest we’ve ever experienced. Calm or not, I’ve never been bugged by any movement anyway, but this was crazy-calm…!!! :)
So, and just for grins, a “fun” ;) video below of the Gulf waters on our first full sea day of our first cruise…!!!!! :hilarious:
