This is not impossible. They could even have the animatronic skins on statues. As ghoulish as taxidermied presidents sound.
Did they redo the Trump one? I recall it looked more like Hillary than Trump when the put it in the first time around. I always figured they expected Hillary to win and were nearly done with her animatronics and then had to do a last minute rework when Trump won.

Yeah, this is the third version. The first looked really bad and like you said looked like a redressed figure meant to be someone else. The 2nd was a lot better but was a non-speaking one and this latest one looks the more realistic
If you ask nicely maybe Disney will preserve the experience for you, digitally of course!
Again, I wouldn't be surprised if HOP pulls a SGE at some point in the not too distant future and operates seasonally before "Temporarily" closing forever and not saying

I would just like to say that I am very pleased that this Attraction has reopened.
And I am equally pleased to see that the current President has been given a much more accurate looking likeness for his figure onstage.
Looking forward to seeing this in person again soon, with the new updated figure.

If they ever do close it, I hope they turn it into a DVC preview center. I think that would be swell.

I typed out a long post about how they're probably stuck keeping this regardless of how anyone feels because nothing else is going to thematically fit, but then I remembered they're putting Cars in Frontierland so it doesn't matter.

I mean they have built a replica of an old west settlement twice. A colonial one wouldn’t be a huge stretch.
Considering the Colonial American setting and its proximity to the Haunted Mansion, a story based on superstitions, set within the town of Sleepy Hollow as instructed by Headmaster Ichabod Crane might be appropriate. The facade updated to that of a schoolhouse.
Apparently someone claiming to be a former Imagineer said it was but nothing official.
