Let's just recap what's actually happened This whole thing today has started with you replying to a post I wrote just saying that the dock area will remain and there will be a prominent water feature. I then just listed everything we know about the project from official press releases and just said what we don't know as fact yet which is the width of the new river. Yet, every time, you've accused my of making stuff up, all as speculation, as a way for me to "shut down criticism". I'm well aware of the criticism of this project and understand why people are upset about it. That doesn't mean I shouldn't be allowed to post on here with information we know about this project.

I don’t think it’s a good thing that MK has closed restaurants and cut live entertainment while raising prices but that’s another topic and has nothing to do with your statements about clones.

I don’t either. But the resort very actively works against not doing it that way. It has been a very intentional executive goal for many years.

It’s not. I don’t know if I’d count rocket jets and the boats unless we want to count the missing swan boats at MK - but peoplemover and magic eye should not be abandoned.

Technically fantasyland theatre is being used at least - just not the way it should.

Having no daytime parade and nothing in the horseshoe for the 70th are both huge crimes in my book.

Took a crack at the ride layout on google maps and put Luigi's from DCA behind the cabin. Track length would be ~2,250 feet (not including elevation changes). For reference test track is 5,246 ft and I couldn't find a track length for RSR but AI thinks it's about 4,200 feet.

Yes. You worked against the system. I do that all the time. That doesn’t mean that the entire resort isn’t set up, at great corporate expense, to work against it.

I also suspect you may have an AP, which means you likely didn’t feel too pressured to do anything in particular. You are also very, very familiar with the parks and are adept at swimming against the tides.

Very interesting! I will have to check the numbers again. I always believed WDW had the price advantage because of the blessing of size. So I suppose the main barrier is the cross pacific flight.

Yes, the flight is the biggest hurdle as far as hassle and expense goes. Helps if you have airline or cc points.

The "blessing" of size was intended to keep the outside world out. That makes onsite WDW hotels more desirable, but you pay an ever increasing premium to stay at one. Plus it's still a long way to get to the parks depending upon where you stay and which park you visit. Think about how many miles All-Star Movies and MK are from each other.

First time TDR visitors IMO are too fixated on the idea of a "Disney" hotel to realize how many other options there are within reasonable access to the parks. Especially if they're used to dealing with WDW's bus system.

There was supposed to be a fountain in the new Epcot hub to replace Fountain of Nations and it became a planter. Just because the current concept art shows “a prominent water feature” doesn’t mean there actually will be.

They’re digging huge new ponds and a new canal to replace the water storage capacity lost by the removal of the Rivers of America.

Why not just…keep the river then?

I believe the permits call for the entire area to have a uniform spread of dirt. Whatever water makes the final cut in Piston Peak will not resemble the Rivers of America, or anything like it

This is how I feel too. I don’t expect there to be any water after they gut it.

The more visited park should have more offerings to provide guests with a quality experience that isn’t consumed with overcrowding and high wait times.

If DLR can manage to add attractions when they’re so limited to how much space they have, why does WDW need to pave over their entire RoA to add one attraction?

Rugged mountains with dramatic peaks will be nestled along a calming waterway across from Grizzly Hall and soaring geysers from the famed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will stretch into the trails of our off-road rally.

Let’s not forget that WDW is an actual resort and it’s not just in name only.

Fantasmic at DL is a literal embarrassment to any park around the world right now.

Does the Lego store reference Liberty Belle by name? Or anything Disney? If not, I don't see how it could be a case for "showing support" so to speak. Cool display though.

It's a newer set that was released earlier this year. It was part of the Ideas line which means a fan made it about 2 years ago, got enough votes, Lego approved it, and turned it into a real set.

Being closer to the start of construction means nothing. They can still change things and decide it’s easier to pave over the entire river. Which is what I see happening. Just because the issues that plagued Epcot may no longer exist doesn’t mean new issues won’t come up impacting this project that could lead to budget cuts, etc. The new concept art honestly felt a little like placating people by including water because people complained.

Again though. If DLR can increase capacity while keeping at least part of their RoA, why could WDW not do the same? They could have addressed all of those issues while still keeping a larger portion of the river if they really wanted to (like DLR did with Galaxy’s Edge?m) but deciding to pave over the entire thing feels like the easy/cheap way out. And if they wanted a Cars attraction, the speedway was literally right there for them to reimagine. Then they could have included a popular IP and increased capacity while still keeping the only calm/relaxing area in the park.

I didn’t expect it obviously but considering how long they went without talking about this project, I was really hoping they’d throw it out like they did with half the stuff they announced for Epcot.

I... I just said why they didn't. Disneyland appeals HEAVILY to the nostalgia while WDW appeals heavily to the once in a lifetime people who don't care about Tom Sawyer island. Also Speedway does much much better than Tom Sawyer ever did both revenue and guest capacity wise.

You claimed RoA in MK was a barrier to expansion. It’s not. With way less space, DL managed to build GE yet preserve that part of the park. Objectively you’re wrong. If WDW was out of expansion space, you might have a point but it’s nowhere near that scenario

Rocket Rods were creating structural integrity issues, and the track cannot be easily repurposed given disability act restrictions

The 3D and non-3D productions have been pared back in recent years. When was the last new 3D theater production at the parks? Their lack of use is indefensible, but I don’t think they have the desire for such passive entertainment that doesn’t nudge folks to buy LL.

These photos give a great sense of the scale for this project, just look at how small the castle looks in that last picture! I'd have to imagine that the land being remediated for laydown yards now could be used as true expansion space in the future.

Looks like they put up a blue temporary dam ready to drain RoA, are they just going to lift the boat out of the water and dismantle it using the big thunder crane?
