MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

That wasn’t the point.

You claimed RoA in MK was a barrier to expansion. It’s not. With way less space, DL managed to build GE yet preserve that part of the park. Objectively you’re wrong. If WDW was out of expansion space, you might have a point but it’s nowhere near that scenario

They aren't taking out the River because there is nowhere else to go.. they are taking out the River because they wanted to replace it.

So why is it ok that DL has peoplemover,

Rocket Rods were creating structural integrity issues, and the track cannot be easily repurposed given disability act restrictions
rocket jets,
Replaced by Astro Orbiter
phantom boats,
Became Motor Boat Cruise until 1993, and is now Fantasia Gardens
magic eye theater all abandoned. Space place, Starcade, and former carousel building barely used and the fantasyland theater has been cut?
The 3D and non-3D productions have been pared back in recent years. When was the last new 3D theater production at the parks? Their lack of use is indefensible, but I don’t think they have the desire for such passive entertainment that doesn’t nudge folks to buy LL.

Aerial photos from bioreconstruct of the land clearing:

Looks like they put up a blue temporary dam ready to drain RoA, are they just going to lift the boat out of the water and dismantle it using the big thunder crane?

Again its not ignoring the literary past. It's saying "maybe this belongs in a museum and not so much a current modern day family theme park" when it may make people uncomfortable as there isn't some exhibition/details on what was really going on at the time. Disney World is not a museum, it has history itself and at the end of the day is still a modern theme park.

Disney’s entire portfolio was overflowing with whitewashing and romanticizing things into sentimental family friendly variants. The theme park was the physical enumeration of this as well. There are no diseases in the jungle… there are no raiders pillaging towns… there is no lack of inequality.

From fairytales, to depictions of the frontier, to circus life. It pretty much was the mainstay of disney storytelling.

It’s literally what Disney became so popular with. So, to throw out an anchor now and say ‘hold on…’, especially for things not even in context of the experience… is absurd. And why so many people have been against such campaigns

Went to MK today to experience the Liberty Belle one last time. Literally cannot believe people can look at all this and want to bulldoze all of this for nothing but concrete and Cars. 🙄😢

That’s a shame and gutless. Great books are great books, you save Huck Finn for high school so you can also teach the cultural context. Not to mention despite the slur (which is completely accurate for the time) is quite an important book as it humanizes a black charact

It won’t be just “concrete and cars”
Yeah, much as I don't want this to happen - I'm not going to say things that it isn't going to be.
Like the often trotted out "We're going to see and hear googly eye'd cartoon cars zipping around Frontierland."
And if they keep the river section as shown and set this back - as well as flesh it out with the other water features (if being the operative words) this could turn out to be very impressive.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy. I wonder how many of the mature trees they'll be able to keep? Hopefully they plant bigger trees than Epic Universe.
That’s one of my biggest concerns behind the loss of the river. The “concept art” shows trees, but if they’re just going to be baby trees that need time to grow, the area is going to be awful and not feel anything like RMNP.

It won’t be just “concrete and cars”
That’s what most of it looks like it’ll be. They can try to soothe the media by mentioning all the supposed water features and the importance of sight lines but we’ve seen how that’s gone in the past. A lot of the optimism in this thread rests on the “concept art” and the media spin but the actuality is just because they can say all the right things and what people want to hear, doesn’t mean they can actually execute it. And I’m skeptical that they can cut out one of the central pieces of the flagship park and do it well.

Where did he assert DL was the “best park in the world?”

As it happens, DL and MK provide for numerous comparisons in terms of park layout, thematic organization and integration, and overall ride experience.*

The ROA is largely unique to both parks, and yet DL manages to keep making theirs work despite numerous internal and external barriers to further expansion. Despite the absence of those barriers in Florida, WDW has determined their ROA has to go.

*I personally feel DL has many more advantages over MK in many of these categories.
This is so off topic at this point.

What does DL have to with a Cars themed expansion coming to the MK ?

We need to get back on track and actually discuss the topic at hand instead of hijacking this thread.

I’m including myself as well.

It’s not off topic. DLR managed to build a “Cars Land” without removing their ROA. It’s fair to compare both in light of those respective decisions, as well as whether this new “Cars Land” matches Cars Land in DCA.
