The very first drawing of Disneyland proper shows a castle in Fantasyland. It is just the Fantasyland Castle. They briefly kick around the idea of naming it Snow White and only very late is the name Sleeping Beauty Castle decided upon. There was even a period of time after opening that the castle was still referred to as Fantasyland Castle. The design of castle had nothing to do with any movie. The inclusion of the castle had nothing to do with any movie.

Never mind the fact that the castle in the film looks nothing like the castle at Disneyland.

Also, are you under the impression that the low budget opening day "get the park built" Disneyland attractions are what has defined Disney in the zeitgeist? Not Pirates? Haunted Mansion?

Everyone knows that early visitors to Magic Kingdom complained about the lack of the Alice in Wonderland dark ride in the park which is why they quickly rushed to add it to the park. Right?

Love the 2.0 soundtrack. It’s in my top 5 park music. Sounds very EPCOT to me. PLM hit a grand slam with it.

Also in my top! Loved hearing it with the sound of the cars whooshing. Would love if they’d keep it.

It Might be the best EPCOT refurbishment since (Tries to remember the last time an EPCOT Attraction had a refurbishment that kept in theme and didn't add unnecessary character tie-ins) Test Track 2.0.

Nature documentaries are not marketable IP. Nobody was riding the Jungle Cruise and going "Look, it's the famous and marketable character The African Lion from Disney's The African Lion". Hell, the ride is most often described as an unlicensed adaptation of The African Queen because of the tramp steamers, to the point that the Jungle Cruise movie was a pseudo-remake of that film.

They were in the 50s and 60s.

The entire post you've quoted here to "prove" that he's not talking about themed design is... quite literally about themed design? In this specific context, themed design that launched media franchises. Their point, quite clearly, is that Disney built its THEME PARK reputation on the back of original content designed for the parks. That's the entire point of the discussion being had. He's saying it makes sense that Universal builds movie rides, because that's all they've ever done in the theme park world. He follows up by saying that it's foolish for Disney to do only the same, because their most successful contributions TO THEME PARKS have been original concepts. Im honestly struggling to even begin to understand how that was difficult to understand.

I genuinely don't know how to respond to you because it's like you're having a different conversation from everybody else while loudly insisting that the conversation you're having is actually the one everybody else is having.

I literally only said that Disney’s reputation was built before they started building theme park attractions. Anyone that says differently is wrong. You can’t say that they built their ‘theme park reputation’ on non-IP when you just ignore all the IP attractions. If those ignored attractions failed then Pirates and HM never get built. Not arguable.

The transformation from the department store to the Lidar nodes is amazing. I don’t know if everyone even noticed that, it’s shown so briefly.

The other scene reads we bought some Christmas trees. But I like it.

I didn't notice the transformation. Funny you mention the Christmas trees. I did find it funny that somebody was "fluffing" the branches like I do to our artificial tree every year after then get flattened out from storage.

Because he didn't bring up 'themed design' or theme parks. You did.

But they then renamed it to Sleeping Beauty Castle to ... tie it into the IP.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone say it looks the same as the movie's castle.

The queue music was so calming/soothing, especially in the holding area before going into the design studio and the part of the queue between the design studio and loading area.
