Long live the Eastern Gateway or how I learned to love the Anaheim City Council after the election.

I’m assuming the bridge will be split down the middle?

One side not in the bubble, meant for crossing guests, the other side for guests going into the resort that have already completed security at the parking structure.

Yeah, again, I'm not seeing it. It would have to be a full-on fence running down the middle. Not just some landscaped separation.

I'd be happy to be wrong though. We always stay at the HoJo and really dislike the crosswalk.

Artistic license. It doesn’t make any sense to allow elevators up or down on the other side, if that bridge is fully in the bubble. It would lead right to the esplanade only then.

I assume they do a planter down the centre, which will have a wall or dividing fence. In the planter.

I guess my only question is where are all these people coming from? And going to?

Oh I meant I'm not buying it. I didn't mean I don't see it in the art.

Keeping the crosswalk doesn't eliminate the need to put garage guests into the security bubble on the far east side and then lifting them over the street.
You assume this is a "security bubble" that requires no public access on the full east side of the bridge. I don't make that same assumption based on the history of this project.

It wasn't Disney that was trying to get rid of the crosswalk, it was the City of Anaheim. Also the bridge can be as wide as they want and the City will allow, so there is nothing that says they can't have a very wide bridge.
I agree it has to be to remove the crosswalk, there’s no other reason to create that spiral walkway and elevators, if the crosswalk was staying there’d be no reason to build the elevators and spiral walkway at all… you’d just have all those guests using the crosswalk to get to the lower security area, there’d be zero reason for them to ever go up a level.

Same place where they come from on that side of Harbor now, there is still foot traffic on that side that don't use the crosswalk or use it further down Harbor such as at Katella.

Also I wouldn't put any specific significance into the number of people shown, its just concept art and they are meant to show foot traffic not necessarily a specific number. If it was really reflective of the foot traffic on all of Harbor that crowd would be shown as more dense. Because if you've been at the current crosswalk at opening or closing you'd know its packed.

Sure seems like adding public access to the east side of the bridge wouldn't be that necessary then.

;)
Funny, but none of that means the crosswalk is staying. Having followed this project since the beginning and being part of this discussion with David (Darkbeer) when he was alive I can tell you the crosswalk is not staying. That was a priority one requirement by the City of Anaheim. So I would find it almost impossible that has changed.

That was the original plan, make everyone walk to the garage to cross via the bridge so they weren’t crossing Harbor, that got a ton of pushback though so this is the reasonable compromise, Disney gets to keep most the security area outside the esplanade so they can build in it, the Harbor hotels get to keep their easy park access, and Anaheim gets to reduce the traffic on Harbor. Win, win, win.

I’m glad that the original proposal got pushed back. This new revision is a better deal. I think there should be direct access from harbor.

Do you know where you're going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to? Do you know?

Do you get what you're hoping for? When you look behind you, there's no open doors. What are you hoping for? Do you know?

Once we were standing still in time. chasing the fantasies that filled our minds. You knew how I loved you, but my spirit was free, laughing at the questions that you once asked of me.
