The red is the ramp up and down access to the bridge.
Red is for parking garage guests who want to get to Harbor without walking all the way to the center of the esplanade just to walk back to Harbor.
That makes a huge assumption though of them meaning access to only one side of the physical street rather than to and from pedestrian traffic which is the way it traditionally would be read."This pedestrian bridge will also provide convenient public access to and from Harbor Boulevard."
I believe the phrasing of this sentence emphasizes access to and from the street, not providing public access across the street.
Which is no big deal if the crosswalk remains. That makes a huge assumption though of them meaning access to only one side of the physical street
Again I come back to the point of it's the City of Anaheim is the one the wants the crosswalk gone not Disney in order to improve the traffic flow along Harbor. I don't see them dropping that from this plan as that would defeat one of the main purposes of this project.Which is no big deal if the crosswalk remains.
Right, they may indeed press them on that point. But I think Disney would prefer to do one tower, keep the crosswalk, and call it a day. The way this concept art was framed makes either option possible.Again I come back to the point of it's the City of Anaheim is the one the wants the crosswalk gone not Disney in order to improve the traffic flow along Harbor. But, that could also simply be "Leaving" vs. "Entering" pathways.
I don't think its about "pressing them" as I think its already been incorporated into this plan as it was always part of the plan.Right, they may indeed press them on that point.
Why? What's the purpose of going on the bridge when you can just walk at street level? And why would someone go through security only to exit to street level from the bridge?
You may very well be right. It will be interesting to find out. While the city may want to be rid of it, I do think IHOP would be happier to keep the crosswalk.I don't think its about "pressing them" as I think its already been incorporated into this plan as it was always part of the plan.
Anything else doesn't make sense, as if you've been following along with this project since day one its been the ONE main thing that the City has said MUST be part of the project. So why drop it now, its not like car traffic suddenly got better by this plan and now the crosswalk doesn't need to go.
Oh, and one of the other reasons why the crosswalk being removed was important to the City, pedestrian safety. They don't want pedestrians crossing anymore in order to prevent accidents, which happen every year. So they suddenly don't care about pedestrian safety? Again doesn't make sense, so no I think the crosswalk is still gone and there is a way to enter/exit the bridge from the eastern side.
Yes but according to @britain's plan the crosswalk stays, so that doesn't eliminate that safety issue. Which is why I don't buy into this idea that the crosswalk is suddenly staying, as its always been part of this plan to remove it.Safety. You get to avoid some crazy drivers on Harbor.
Which was one of the push backs from the Harbor businesses to begin with back in 2016, and why the adjustments to the plan to make the bridge accessible to the public via ramps and such. Otherwise if the crosswalk stays then you don't need public access to the bridge and Disney can move forward with their original plan of having an enclosed security bubble. All you'd need is some public access to the backside, as was originally purposed to try to workaround the push back by punching through the backside of each of the businesses to give access to the walkway to the bridge, again basically negating the whole need to make a ramp. You may very well be right. It will be interesting to find out. While the city may want to be rid of it, I do think IHOP would be happier to keep the crosswalk.
Its actually in the Resort Plan to have several pedestrian bridges across Harbor (and around the rest of the resort). This was even discussed during the planning meetings last year when the DisneylandForward project was being discussed by the City.I prefer this new revision, if the city want to remove the crosswalk. They should pitch in and build a separate pedestrian bridge. Like how Las Vegas should numerous of pedestrians bridges through out the strip.

The reason for asking is because @britain thought was they would keep the crosswalk, which eliminates the need to use the bridge in the first place.I thought truecoat was asking why anyone would want to go up the bridge and back down of the crosswalk on the street exists.
