Chapek installed Kareem Daniel over the streaming/media side of things, and that rankled the traditional studio heads. Chapek was over parks when he made Josh CCO of WDW, President of DL, and chose Josh as his replacement over “Disney Experiences” (Parks).

Again, back to the question - what mistakes over the last 5-10 years (when he was quite high over this division in various capacities) have been fixed?

For Josh, the biggest one for me was paid resort parking. Started in 2018 and removed in 2023.

I don't disagree, I think Josh sucks too. He's just not as bad as Walden would be or how Chapek was. It's sad that the choices appear to be this grim but he's the lesser of all the evils as far as I can tell. They need a true creative as CEO and that will likely never happen ever again.
They need 2 individuals with differing viewpoints, like Walt and Roy were. It has worked well before. I don't think the one CEO over everthing is working out, IMO>

ALLEGEDLY he was against that from the very beginning and did everything he could to stop it but was directly overruled. Take that with a grain of salt mined from a Louisiana salt dome mountain in a bayou for some reason.

This whole $60B investment into the parks and whatever the number will be at WDW when it's all said and done. Regardless if you like what they are doing with the money there is currently three parks ongoing major additions at the same time with more coming after that.

That's just WDW investment. You can point to Paris and Disneyland Forward.

I don't think the scope of all this happens with Chapek on top.

Whatever he did , Josh impressed his bosses which in the corporate world helps one move up the food chain.

That’s up to the Disney Board who were all recently reelected and fully supports Iger. Nothing but crickets on all the Board who are retained their positions and also sets up the CEO compensation plan.

He helped (doesn't deserve all the credit) create an opportunity for growth. Park capacities (domestic and foreign) are in expansion, a new park is coming, multiple cruise ships are coming.

Meanwhile, those overseeing the film business have had trouble stabilizing it and profitability is debatable. Long term growth is much less certain. Same with sports.

Josh's greeting to Guests is still one of the viewing options on the tv selections at your WDW Resort hotel.
For those wanting more Josh goodness.

I roomed with a friend recently at Riverside and told her not to watch it.....but her curiousity got the best of her.
Oof....

😏

And also….this shirt is real.
For the Josh fans, apparently…..

😳

They are not bringing in someone from the outside. That would be a clear admission of failure which isn’t going to happen under Iger.
Which is the whole problem isn’t it? Under Iger

He must be trekking around st Augustine looking for the fountain right now…

(Kidding…he doesn’t leave LA unless it’s for yachting…please)

Josh thought about affordability today.

Specifically he thought about how you CAN'T AFFORD TO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE AWESOME T-SHIRTS!

I've been on this train for a long time now. Something has been different about the way Iger has been grooming him and allowing him to take up some of the spotlight. However, I figured it would have been announced before now. Not sure if travel/market instability has factored in or if it's just that Bob the Buyer refuses to get out of the chair before the contract expires.

So you’re drinking the sauce chef Bob would serve up to you from his scratch kitchen, too?

Nah, I met Josh once and got to speak with him a bit about the parks. I believe he really is better than Bob, and noticing that Bob 1 isn't setting him up to fail like he did with Bob 2. We've been on opposite sides of this coin for a few years though now.

**Editing to add that I actually think he is fighting to increase investment in the parks and would be a good choice. Better than Bob is either a great accolade or worth nothing depending on your opinion. I wouldn't be terrible surprised though with a co-executive situation with him as COO and someone else (Walden?) as CCO.

Have you noticed Bob has made zero effort at transition? And he’s supposed to be leaving in six months?

Because that doesn’t play

There was more “transitioning” of staggs and Rasulo…and we saw where that went.

And before anyone say it: yes…I hate me too 🤐
