Well, I'm sure there will be a large pile of Thoughts and Prayers extended. Nothing else, but in the words of Walter Cronkite... "And that's the way it is". Sadly!
How have you been sir? My wife and I spent three days in Greenville SC last month. I believe you live in North Carolina...correct? I thought of you when we passed thru your state driving back to NJ.

The one thing about trying to find a pair of shoes these days... because everything has gone to online sales, stores never have a good selection anymore, and they never have my sizes. But then when I order them online and they aren't the right size, I need to return them and try the next size. And it takes weeks to find the right pair.

THIS!!! I just went through a few months of trying to find a pair of shoes that actually fit!!

In-store stock: forget it. So, I'd order online (different brands/sizes) and I went through a number of returns. What a PITA. (Some were shoes I could return to a store, and they'd ship back to warehouse with their stock, for free. Other shoes from different companies, I had to eat the return shipping costs.) But I think the worst part was that the exact same shoe size fitted differently for each brand -- nothing is consistent anymore!

Thanks for asking, all things considered I am doing OK. A lot better than I deserve anyway. I have a list of things about a foot long in small type, of things that are wrong with me including Prostate Cancer, Pace Maker, High Blood Pressure (mostly controlled) and a whole bunch of other things, none of them life threatening yet, so I just list them when I'm looking for sympathy. 😉 Hope you are doing well too.

My Hearts emoji was to represent that I'm glad you are on the thread and that you answered me.
I wish you the best with your list of medical concerns! ;):)

To be honest, since I turned 69, my life is more keeping track of my health issues then anything else. I've been very lucky, so far and in all these years I have had only one incident that was life threatening and that was when I had a kidney stone and it became infected and went sepsis on me. I really thought I was done for with that one, I never before had a situation were my entire body seemed to reject my ability to survive. I got to the ER just in time and the massive dose of Antibiotics did the trick in just a couple of days. Other than that it is just a practically daily situation where when I get up (which in itself is a good thing) I have something new that is causing me distress. It is a situation where you say to yourself... "Should I give it a day or two to see if it goes away on it's own or should I call 911". The wait usually works except for that kidney stone problem.

Heck, my Prostate cancer was diagnosed 10 years ago and has proceeded to slowly raise my PSA, but it has yet to develop into something that will get me before I would naturally bid farewell. Like I said, I've been very lucky. And I feel guilty because I did nothing in my youth to try and prevent any of my problems and although they are kind of cumbersome to deal with on a daily basis, none of it has stopped me from doing what I want. I just want a lot less! I might also add that a number of my problems are on the VA's list of things caused by exposure to Agent Orange.

Speaking of blood pressure, it was finally determined that 5 years of hydrochlorothiazide (diuretic) was not doing enough, so the doctor put me on an ACE inhibitor, which often comes with the bothersome side effect of a persistent dry cough. She said to give it two months and if I experienced an intolerable cough she’d switch Rx.

Well I didn’t even wait the full 60 days. After 52 days of coughing up my guts (and peeing my pants), I called Uncle! I’ve been off it for three weeks now, but apparently the cough can persist for a few months afterward.

So, yay me.

Argh, (1) that's terrible, and (d) good for you.

Sorry, I'm trying to stick with @Mr Ferret 75 's numbering system.

Hope it resolves quickly. Dunno what it's like in the Great White North ;) but here in NYC area, we are having a BAD year for allergy sufferers. I've got mild allergies to tree pollen, and I'm having bad days, but my beloved is having a terrible time. He went to urgent care today after suffering a bad cough for almost two weeks (and since he had a lung cancer tumour removed successfully a year ago February, a bad cough of his makes me very nervous) then came away with scrips for an antibiotic, a steriod, and an asthma inhaler (he had bad asthma as a child). Hoping all those meds combine to make him comfortable.

Feel better soon. xxx

Friend Figgy, my sweetie popped a Benadryl every night for many, many years, maybe since young adulthood (his allergies are quite bad).

When he was doing his pre-surgery for the lung cancer operation last year, one of the docs told him that they no longer recommend Benadryl because it works not through the bloodstream but through the brain, and they didn't like the effect it could possibly have on the brain (future dementia).

So he stopped his nightly Benadryl. We are (he is) still trying to get to the solution of sleeping all night while relieving allergy symptoms. Sometimes he's tempted to pop a Benadryl, but then he thinks of the potential effect on his grey matter.

Interestingly, I rarely took Benadryl. When my mom developed bad allergies in her retirement years, she would take a page from my hubs and swallow a Benadryl, and then she would say that she was up and down and across the ceiling. It definitely didn't put her to sleep, quite the opposite.

Long story short, don't rely on Benadryl.

Here’s hoping your Hubs feels better soon. Sounds like they’ve covered all the bases with that Rx cocktail.

I’m just sick of coughing. It’s been approx 10 weeks, and has very much interfered with my sleep. As it is, we all know I don’t get nearly enough sleep. Worse though, I wake up Mike a few times/night too.

This too shall pass.

The coughing and the sleep is the worst.

I will confess that between the coughing and the snoring (mostly the snoring) I've abandoned my beloved for the guest room, where I can sleep without earplugs. Because I'm selfish.

Last week, we attended a family wedding in Nashville, and while the hotel mattress was much too soft, gave me back pain, and I had to endure ear plugs...dang, at this point even I am wondering why I slept with him, but I really enjoyed the cuddles. 😂

I hope that your cough and other symptoms are soon relieved. xx
