I'm not saying they don't have a valid point with regards to the exclusion of the Bears, I'm just saying that it really wasn't about the CoP show itself but really was about the Sherman Brothers. It really was just a nod to the Sherman's impact on the Parks, that is all.

Also its not like Disney hasn't added references to the Bears recently into DL, so I think they are honoring them even if not as much as some would like.
The Hungry Bear overlay is nice, but Disney really just doesn't seem to include the attraction in any of these big celebrations of the parks. That's what I'm mainly focused on- not that they're ignored entirely, but they just don't have that same level of respect and reverence from the company despite how beloved they are by fans.

Fair- I couldn't see it quite well but I did see the brothers and assumed they were surrounded by iconography from the attraction. Still though, I think my point stands- if it were a show only about Sherman Brother songs, then CoP over CBJ makes sense, but they had PotC and HM, X. Atencio/George Bruns works, and they did the CBJ's original songs, not the Sherman Brothers. I dunno, I'm just a big CBJ fan who wishes they were included in stuff like this. They could've given a few seconds to the bears and the show wouldn't have been negatively affected by being slightly longer.
I understand your point, and can empathize with you on the lack of Bears in the show. While the Bears are an important part of DL history I think the show was focusing on things that have the greatest impact on the Park, which the Sherman's arguably have a greater impact than the Bears.

I do agree the Shermans are more important- now that I know it was just them and not them plus the CoP it makes more sense and I don't have a problem with it (and really the only "problem" I had was that I thought CoP was there and the CBJ wasn't).

Though I just rewatched the show and noticed that they included the ROCKET RODS in the show. I thought I was seeing things but the comments also said they saw Rocket Rods. Not the PeopleMover, but the Rocket Rods. Like come on man, how are those more important than the Country Bears, Matterhorn, Great Moments, Space Mountain, or any of the other Disneyland attractions left out? Why do I care so much about this? It's a projection show, and yet here I am bugged by it.

Yeah I wouldn't say that Rocket Rods is important, but clearly it has an impact even if in a negative way. So maybe this is Disney acknowledging their own faults. ;)

Or maybe its a look into the future as a preview for a return of the PM just with retro cars that look like the Rocket Rods.

Also if we fans didn't fuss over the smallest details such as what is included in a projection show then Disney would stop doing them all together. So keep it up. :)

Very true! It's always funny to me how much of an impact park fans have on the parks- typically you'd think we wouldn't because we're such a small part of the total amount of guests that go, but I feel like social media has really made the fans more vocal and Disney feels more pressured to avoid bad social media PR, haha. Doesn't stop them from making bad decisions, but...

I’m guessing COP got the nod considering that the show is projected onto the IASW facade (a very Sherman Bros synonymous attraction) and nowhere else. I can’t remember- were the Country Bears featured in RDCT?
I haven't seen that one, but I was told on BlueSky that Randy the Skunk had a voice line in the show and Wikipedia says Max, Buff, and Melvin are in the show (and the VAs listed are the 80s era overlays so it's probably Vacation if I were to guess). But to my knowledge that is the only parks-themed show that the bears are in, and even then, it seems like it's minor vocal cameos rather than having music featured. I'll have to find a video to watch it and see to what extent they're featured!

That idea has been highly over stated. I would think more “Disney fans” attend a Disney park than people who just happen to be in the area and want to see what the big deal about Disney is.

Now there is certainly a spectrum of casual to obsessed fan - but the majority of visitors are “fans” to some degree.

Tapestry of Happiness (the Small World projection show) also premiered last night:

Unexpectedly misty eyed by the end of this show. How I wish this were expanded a bit on Main Street as a new fireworks show; it captures so much of why folks still consider RDCT to be among DLE’s best.

Really enjoyed it. The one bit I didn't quite get was Moana though. Was that to represent Magic Happens?

I think this is especially true at Disneyland where its mostly a locals Parks compared to WDW which is mostly tourists.

But in general I think the sentiment is true, that by and large most Disney Parks are visited by "Disney Fans", but its the "Disney Parks Fans" that fuss over the little details compared to the just general "Disney Fan" that misses those same small details.

True! I guess I was thinking more "parks fans" than overall Disney. I would argue most people are a fan of Disney to some degree and I doubt anyone goes to their parks if they don't already like something they make.

I think? The background was Main Street and it looked like she was on a parade float, but to me it just feels like a way to shoehorn Moana in there because God forbid they do ANYTHING without having Moana in there nowadays. I'm surprised the show didn't also have a Frozen bit, a Coco bit, or "A Whole New World".

Upon watching: It was voice lines from Max ("Lead the way, Henry!"), Buff ("Alright!"), and Randy ("Wow, showbiz!") from Vacation Hoedown played over music from Roger Rabbit and footage of a colored spiral effect... so, not much, and if you didn't know where the voice lines were from you'd probably assume they were from Roger Rabbit or Toon Town, but they were still included at least.

Wow, fantastic little show. Great use of "Remember Me". I chuckled seeing a Rocket Rod... do we really want to remember that?

The show was soured a bit for me with the lack of the Country Bears- which normally wouldn’t be an issue since they’re not in the park anymore, but the show also features the Carousel of Progress, which also isn’t in the park anymore. The Country Bears were in Disneyland for 29 years and returned last year with their new restaurant (and one could argue they never left since their meet and greets still appeared sporadically and they had cameos in various parts of Critter Country), meanwhile the Carousel of Progress was only in Disneyland for 6 years. You can’t say they didn’t include it because Walt didn’t work heavily on it because Big Thunder is in the show and Walt didn’t even know that was going to happen, he at least came up with the idea for the CBJ and saw the concept art before he passed.

And yet Disney decided Carousel was a bigger part of Disneyland’s history than the Country Bears? It feels like they never include the bears when it comes to celebrations of their history, and outside of this new show, they don’t really give them any love. No merch, no inclusions in nighttime shows… maybe I’m bothered too much by this but the Country Bears ARE important to the park’s history and I wish Disney understood that.
I think a reason Carousel of Progress gets more presentation is because its paying tribute to Richard Sherman. Who passed away the same year It's A Small World celebrated its 60th Anniversary. He even added the very last lyrics to the song that will premiere this Friday.

Upon further reflection, I think my point would be stronger using the Rocket Rods as the “why is this here over others” example. The Matterhorn, Space Mountain, the Country Bears, Great Moments, and many other iconic attractions weren’t included but the Rocket Rods were.

Because Rocket Rods were fantastic while they lasted! Wish we could get them back!
