I don’t even know what your point is anymore.. doing these little dances…as far as I can tell Bob Iger has really affected your thought process… and are not happy with anyone giving Disney money… sort of a “ do as I say not as I do”

You are the first who made a comment on the “art house” studio…. I assumed you
Meant Searchlight Studios…. You complain about others with excuses…. Most others on this board I have not seen change their thoughts But you created so much confusion with your word salad…just to spin a Disney is a failure narrative
Wait a second…you don’t like the goalposts moving?

You’re on the wrong thread…because it’s been a constant onslaught of excuses and misdirection to soften the blow of corporate studio failure on this here thread since poor Hallee Flopped like a fish out of water 🐠

Excuse for what?

Your favorite arthouse studio posting red ink on a lot of its titles?

Everyone agree with that except about 4 of you… 🤷🏻

No the fact that you use the same *but* excuse that you claim others do. "Disney will "win" the box office, most likely due to saturation", as an example. Its still a win, it doesn't matter if they release 300 movies or 3, its still a win. You like to throw shade at everyone else because they put qualifiers on things (what you call excuses), but you do the exact same thing just on the flip side.

Also no not everyone agrees, as there is a whole big world out there that goes beyond the dozen or so people that post here in this thread. And last I checked Wall St, you know the metric you keep trying to use, don't care about the movie slate or how many films Disney releases each year or if an individual or string of them bomb or even under perform. If you think it should be different and Wall St should care, cool. But that still doesn't change things.

You see all reasons or explanations as “excuses,” which makes discussion difficult.

True, even if they lose hundreds of millions of dollars to be the top grossing at the box office, they are still the top grossing at the box office.

Costly, but worth it for appearance sake .;) maybe we should call it "the cost of doing business" ;)
Last I checked Disney Studios doesn't actually lose money very often, no matter what happens at the theaters. And even when it does its not by the huge sums that some around here claim.

So yeah its the cost of doing business, one that Disney seems to be doing better than most of its peers.

Yup. It's like a picture from Thomas Kinkade. They are mass produced by a corporation of people and are not considered "art" by the art world and scholars.
The problem is people like to use "Disney" is multiple ways. Disney in this thread does not mean just one particular Studio such as WDAS or Marvel, but rather the entire company. So yes "Disney" has an art studio under it, and so does actually produce arthouse movies that would be considered "art" by the cinematic art world.

I don't even think he knows his own point anymore. Just, Iger bad = Disney bad, Iger go now. Iger takes up every inch of space in his head that I think he still believe that many of us are Iger fans.

They’re wrong.

They cannot see what I see, especially after it’s first trailer from February debuted to over 200 million views worldwide in its first 24 hours to make it the 10th biggest trailer launch ever.
Again I agree, but in all fairness trailer views don't always equate to ticket sales. So we'll have to see what happens in July.

The only MCU films post Endgame that made over $1 billion are the Spider-Man films and Deadpool vs. Wolverine. It’s a new film series within the franchise. $700-$800M would be a great success.

And you were confident you saw (see?) a return to hand drawn animation. So maybe sit this one out?

Now who is the one with excuses. If they still rule the box office and others can't overtake them then they are still the leader, it doesn't matter how they do it.
Well technically if the are at the top of the box office gross, they did sell the most tickets.

If they lost at the box office because they spent too much to make and market a movie that is a separate issue.

While I agree, unfortunately some around here think it'll flop or under perform too.
So post a prediction…let’s hear it?

I wouldn't know. I don't have access to their books.

This thread was about box office gross.

If a movie makes or loses money at the box office is easily calculated.
Because it’s a lot of corporate accounting that goes on after the fact.

We just went over this like two weeks ago…the financial losses they posted on their actual books from their murderers row slate of 2023 were higher than what we armchair geniuses here threw around

Correct, which is the point.

If they lost at the box office because they spent too much to make and market a movie that is a separate issue.
Again that is beside the point, and yes a separate issue.

Except its not easily calculated which has been discussed for a long time in this thread.

Ah yes, your conspiracy theory of cooked books. If you have any proof please file an SEC claim.

And no the actuals from 2023 were actually a lot lower than the $1.2B or whatever TP and others claimed here.
