Good visuals to see how much this is actually going to be an expansion of space. We may not be able to walk all the way back there, but Encanto looks to be a Dinosaur sized attraction?

I will tell you it’s about time.
For me the clock started in 2020 when primeval whirl closed.
This work is a minimum of three years away from completing, that’s 8 years.
Tack on three more for Indy that’s at least 11 years.
Disney takes way too long to do anything (except build DVC towers)

Definitely a long time since PW, but I do feel though that it would have still been operational until this year had the mechanical issues not happened. I remember reading in 2019/2020 that they had issues seeking parts for the ride, so put it in seasonal operation. Then when the parks reopened in 2020, they finally confirmed the closures of Rivers of Light, Primeval and Stitch (which has been closed for 2 years then)I will tell you it’s about time.

iirc, the entire Encanto show-building is going to be 65,000 sqft, and based off the image below, it does look like the ride building is about the same as Dinosaur.

Happy to see things moving along, but I still lament that in all that space they couldn't find a place for an extra (small) attraction. Would have been nice to actually get a net increase (compared to when PW was around) in the land.

With Disney's lack of flat rides in general this decade, I'm just happy they're giving us the carousel. It will be WDW's first flat ride since Alien Swirling Saucers in 2018, and the only other flat rides in development being the 2 designed for DAW @ DLP

Honestly, it's not even that I want another flat ride - though that would work - because an ideal to me would be a small Fantasyland style dark ride. Those rides can be built on a small footprint and are good to "fill out" lands by providing another attraction that doesn't need to be an E-ticket headliner.

Isn’t there expansion space behind the land? An up ride could fill that role and would fit animal kingdom more then encanto does.

I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I could see them maybe replacing the Finding Nemo show nearby with an Up ride in a potential expansion of TA.

They stored and maintained Rivers of Light floats there and then the Floatillas came from there as well.

Certainly hope so - should be enough demand to justify keeping the park open later and the new town are could look really nice at night, the carousel too
I do recall with Rivers of Light the crowd flow in and out of the theater was a bit of a challenge at times that would only be worse with more people now in that area so hope they adjust that

I'd rather they put some rock-work on top of the Theater in the Wild so we don't see it's roof from on-ride.
To be uncharacteristically dour, I must point out that the carousel is just a flat ride replacement.
And Encanto is the removal of a flat ride.
So, not only are we still missing *new* flat rides, we'll be one down.
Tho, the replacements for those two flats will be a big improvement over all.
Still need *additional* flat rides.

Every DAK land (or every land in general) should have a least
1 thrill ride
1 family friendly dark ride
1 flat ride
1 entertainment offering
And it's wild that Tropical Americas will be the only DAK land to have all 4
