Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*

I’m also +1 on this comment doesn’t make sense. The vast majority originate to the movies. And only F&TWS would be requisit watching otherwise, which was actually fairly popular. (I didn’t like that series, so that isn’t an empty defense)

A young Avengers though would definitely be a D+ Avengers team.
I like the movie, but the characters are B and C-list characters from movies that didn't make money and D+ shows ...

Yelena - Co-lead in Black Widow, small part in Hawkeye
Walker - Villain(ish) character in FATWS
Red Guardian - Supporting character in Black Widow
Ghost - Villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp
Taskmaster - Secondary villain in Black Widow
Bucky - Very popular, originated in the Winter Soldier, been in tons of movies
Sentry - First appearance
Val - Tiny appearances in FATWS, Black Widow, and Black Panther 2
Mel - First appearance

Who cares if the characters are B, C, or D list. Guardians had all E and F list characters and those movies did pretty well.

For real. You might as well just be begging for nothing but Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and X-Men movies for the rest of your life -- like how it was for the 70+ years before the MCU came along.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not a huge fan of the MCU, but that's because of storytelling weaknesses, not because they're trying to give me stories about characters I've never seen before.

Everybody also seems to forget that Iron-Man, Captain America, and Thor were not considered A list heroes prior to 2008 and the huge risk that Marvel Studios took when making Iron Man 1.

I agree that Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America weren't as well known as Superman or Batman but they were more recognizable then a walking tree, talking squirrel, and a muscular green guy with some weird red veiny tattoos.

True. I do remember my sister saying that a movie with a talking raccoon and talking tree would never work. She was wrong and I remind her of that to this day.

I think there's a reasonable question as to if B, C, D, whatever characters who haven't been part of or the stars of hit movies can form the basis of your new superteam. Regardless of where Ironman, Cap, etc. started, they were all stars of their respective (and reasonably successful) movies before The Avengers. That can't be said here.

That doesn't mean it's doomed to be a failure, though. Maybe it'll take off and do great and people who latch on to the new avengers. But I think it's understandable to doubt.

The joke is that they’re not actually the Avengers or on the same level as them. Nobody is expecting them to be the ones carrying the franchise forward as the focus of new Avengers films.

Looking at the presales for seats for the Thunderbolts*, the theaters are pretty much empty at my theaters. I know that doesn't mean much but I think this one is over.

Saw this again and I’m not on the fence anymore - this is a top 5 MCU film. And no, I’m not always positive about Marvel - I stopped watching Eternals and Quantumania because they were bad and have never bothered to watch Thor 4.
I’m looking forward to seeing this again! I wanted to see it in IMAX before it loses the IMAX screens next week, so I am going this weekend. IMHO, it does hold up on repeat viewings.

I don't think presales mean much after the movie has already opened. I think more same day/walk-up that business occurs in the weeks following opening weekend.
Looking at 3:00pm showing (it's 3:14pm now), it has 8 sold seats in a 300 seat theater. If we are hoping for more money, I don't think it is going to happen.

So a showing in the middle of the day on a Thursday when parents are at work and kids are at school has only 8 seats sold is surprising to you?

Just out of curiosity how many does Sinners have or Minecraft for a similar starting time?

Basically I'd say lets wait for the weekend numbers before we start claiming its not going to happen.
