Most people would use and understand the phrase “code of standards” with some sort of ethical implication.It wasn't meant to be an insult. You’re a different person from me. You have your code of standards. I have mine.
In any case, I agree it’s not for everyone—no film is. But assessing its artistic merits on the basis of its suitability for children seems entirely wrongheaded to me, since children are most certainly not part of its target audience. Acknowledged masterpieces like Pulp Mission and The Exorcist would also fail to pass muster if judged by such a standard.
