The most significant theme in Tron is the conflict between man and machine. Tron tells a story that cautions the world about technological control and presents a dystopian vision of the future. EPCOT presents an optimistic vision of technology whereby technological progress marches us closer to utopia.

Tron’s dystopian story doesn’t fit in EPCOT.
Neither does GOTG's silly slapstick fantasy superhero fiction.... but they were both perfect fits for DHS....

WALL-E is also dystopian, but there are things you can take from it that would fit thematically with, say, The Land. The isomorphic algorithms from TRON: Legacy, for instance, could be a more positive aspect of the franchise to explore.

Good time to fan the fanboy debate, but when there is friendly competition, we all win.

Villainsland versus Monsters Land?

Sounds like Disney has been given a bit more leeway and a gift than expected. Lots of room to do sight-lines, size and definitely the coaster better. The dark ride sets a high bar.

I think it’s reasonable to say since this is Disney’s one-more-thing, we should start expecting it of them to make it exceed.

Villians land is go far off I'm not expecting much. Mainly due to how they consistently over promise and under deliver.

IMO it should be dark, scary and have a multi launch multi inversion coaster. It should the opposite of Fantasyland in every way.

I’m hoping they don’t skimp on theming. i want basically a maleficent version of the Hagrid’s coaster

Highly doubt they'll go multi-inversion

You'll get a 45 second launch coaster and a spinner ride. Maybe a theater show if you're lucky.

Will Monsters fill its expansion pad by the time Disney finishes building their Villain's land?

I expect Disney's coaster to be superior because Universal set the bar low.

I'd be pretty surprised if that even occurs within 10 years. That seems like 8 pegs down Universal's priority list (and three-four down in Epic) to me.

Unless I'm completely off base and the plan isn't Luigi's Mansion. Too many competing priorities at USO/IOA these days.

Theming wise Disney's coaster could be superior but thrill wise I highly doubt it will top most Universal coasters

We're talking the Werewolf only on this one. The reviews are pretty consistent about two things right now: Monsters is the best attraction in the park (MoM is not open and TBD) and Werewolf is the worst.

I'm with you, there is no way on earth MK gets a coaster remotely like Stardust or Velocicoaster or Hulk, but it's more than just thrills and ejector time for the other 99% of us.

Not to derail the thread but I've heard Werewolf is definitely a low point and assume it's being addressed. How remains to be seen but I know they're not happy with it.

Should have gone with the original plan for the stage show based on the concept art.

A more interesting, themed experience that would have lasted longer than a minute and better suited for rainy afternoons.

Why not both a stage show for those that enjoy shows and a coaster for those that like coasters... They are not necessarily the same customer... They need to appeal to both....and I am sure the Monsters land needs more than just the main ride... it probably coould use several things....but we will see in a couple of months... Theme-wise the park looks gorgeous from what I have seen so far.... Constellation park seems to be the central core that EPCOT really needed instead of the lackluster business park with a flex space and meet and greet that we ended up with....

Why not both...
Comcast is in debt by $100B. Peacock isn't profitable (yet, if it ever will be). And stock is down. And for a cable company... cord cutting is progressing.

Insiders have said EU is already over budget and there's been "value engineering" (i.e., cuts and reduction in scope). If "doing both" was a fiscal option, they would have done both.

As it is, Werewolf was a cheap option to make up for the loss of the second Potter ride.

I heard Luigi is probably not happening because Zelda is heading to Epic and taking the SNW expansion space iirc.

I think Creature would be like, number two on my Epic priority list in terms of rides. HP gets something first, then either DU gets Creature or Berk gets a ride that doesn't close during typical Florida weather (storms).

EU was largely out of money and sorta but not really out of time to accommodate both the coaster and a show. I think the coaster is the better play but I am disappointed in execution.

Once again, Berk proves to be the best land, talk to the wall!!!!

And then I look up and see this is the villains thread for MK. Anyways, I feel whatever coaster/coasters Disney has for this land will definitely be better than Werewolf, but I feel like Unchained will give a hypothetical dark ride pretty stiff competition.
