I don't think this was posted on these forums yet, but in case you didn't see it:

I wonder how this guy filmed this? if he did it during normal park hours it would have been all over the internet months ago and there’s no way Disney let him film a video before the park opened where he complains about everything.

So did anyone see offhand Disneys latest video about the avatar expansion? In it he analyzes the concept art to try and get more details out of it. He points out that the big rock off to the left is an likely an entrance. the clone of the restaurant from animal kingdom and most interestingly in one spot there is what looks like performance space for a show similar to the Navi drum ceremony also from animal kingdom. he also mentioned a potential flat ride in that spot but if they were going to put a flat ride in I think they would have mentioned it at d23.

I don’t foresee them putting in any fiberglassy flat ride mucking up the hyper real theming. Especially because the boat ride will most likely not have a height requirement.

Yeah I agree. James Cameron is very specific about the quality of his projects. just thought it was interesting to post.

That seems like a convenient way to peddle information that is unverifiable.
Speaking As someone who actually watched the panel at the end Josh said “I can’t wait to see these projects start to come to life over the next 5 years.”

Depends. What are we considering a flat ride?

Good question. For me I’d say anything that resembles a simple themed or unthemed carnival ride. So at DCA that would be Zephyr, Jellyfish, Silly Symphony Swings, Emotional Whirlwind, and Jessie’s Carrousel. Or in other words, any unthemed or minimally themed ride that just goes up and down or spins in circles. I don’t think the Pal Around fits the description. Maybe a tiny off the shelf Ferris wheel like the one you might find at a Carnival. So that’s 5 at the pier alone. I’m sure people will say the trackless tech disqualifies Luigi’s from being classified as a flat ride. So that’s 7 in my book with the Cars Land rides. Which admittedly are both charming and have highly themed queues. They re themed as such that makes them feel more like Dumbo or the Tea Cups. I think it’s quite the feat to give a flat ride so much character that it doesn’t really feel like a flat ride.

Got it. just wanted to see if we were counting coasters like the barnstormer or gadget. I’ll start the count now.

Haha thanks. 7 will be tough to beat. I’m thinking any park with a Toy Story land and a Fantasyland might be in the running. So Hong Kong? To think when Bugs Land was alive DCA had 9.

Goofys has the spirit of a flat ride but we can’t really count coasters right? Even if it’s the type you could find on a pier somewhere. Doesn’t fit the definition of a flat ride but definitely fits the definition of a carnival ride.

Okay Hollywood studios and animal kingdom are tied for last with one each. next Disney Adventure world Hong Kong Disneyland Tokyo Disneyland Disneyland and Disneyland Paris will be tied with 4 when the tangled ride opens in the studio park . then Shanghai Disneyland and Disneyland Paris tie with 5 flat rides.magic kingdom and Toyko DisneySea tie at 6 And Disney California Adventure takes home the gold with a total of 7 flat rides! if I missed anything feel free to let me know but I think this is everything according to your criteria.

Did you disagree with my take that DCA has 7? I didn’t count all the other parks but did count that Hong Kong (which I suspected to come in second) was at 5. Two f the Story Land rides, dumbo, carrousel, tea cups and an Astro Orbitor.

Also I count 5 at MK- dumbo, tea cups, carrousel, Astro Orbitor and magic carpets. Did you count Dumbo twice?

We are not counting the Ferris wheel sky sky school or Luigi’s right?

I’m counting Luigi’s. Even without Luigi’s DCA has 6.

But il admit I’m not quite sure where to the draw the line. For example I didn’t include RC Racers in my Hong Kong count. Maybe if you replace “flat” ride with “carnival” ride this exercise gets easier.

The Asto orbiter closed in Hong Kong along with the speedway to make way for the iron man experience and the project that would become the spider man tower of terror.
