I really expect the lazy river to stick at this juncture. It has survived the resort being mothballed for five years.

They kind of need the punch to upsell the resort. It can’t just be Wilderness Lodge but even further away from Magic Kingdom. The resort complex is also huge. 3x the rooms of Riviera and with cash guests. If they hitched an entire transportation system around that projects otherwise sub optimal location, I think they can spring for a nicer pool complex on this one.

I also suspect the water side table restaurant sticks.

The DVC sales was just posted and it was a very strong Jan 2025. The leader was Poly (no resale restrictions), but Riv was a solid second. At the rate RIV is selling, it should be sold out in 21 months--or about the time the LL is ready to open. So while many of us do not particularly like the recent DVC designs, DVC sales have been good. If sales continue on this track, I would expect an announcement of a new DVC/expansion in around 12 months.

Aside from being concerned about the impact this will have on the Fort Wilderness vibe (which I expect to be dramatic and net negative to Fort Wilderness enjoyers), my main concern is about the boat traffic. I haven't noted anything regarding a second dock, dock expansion project or similar - is there anything in the docs to address this or is it a wait-and-see?

The new resort is planned to have its own dock.

I believe this may give you an idea of the plans:

Disregard as noted in the post below that this was a separate project.

Do they use the super small boats anymore at any of the resorts? I think I've seen them service Grand Floridian / Polynesian, but our last couple times at FW/WL we've seen the larger ones (sorry I'm not fluent in boat). I love the look of the smaller, but realize they're probably not practical capacity wise

They are still used everyday. Primarily for the WL-FW-CR route and the Poly/GF-MK route.

For anyone curious, the interactive water play area should be a big draw for families with younger children.

On a personal level, I think they've really done a good job at having water features that should appeal to most guests who want to use a pool area during their resort stay.

I certainly don’t think another, another DVC is inbound that soon. Lakeshore Lodge is still two years out and is introducing what I think is at least 3 years of inventory. On spec I don’t think they’d be that desperate to add more inventory prior to 2030. Unless external factors are at play like needing to rush a RIV phase 2 before the turn of the decade cut off or WDW needs to offload hotel rooms in a hurry.

Framed another way, outstanding points inventory:
RIV ~1.5M
PIT ~3.2M
CFW ~2.6M

In very good years WDW can move 2million points. Knowing that you can see why they want Lakeshore Lodge when they do, RIV will be well sold out and PIT is going to be fairly deep into its cycle.

But I also expect Lakeshore lodge at minimum is introducing 6M more points… Just eyeballing the size of the DVC tower compared to the rest of the resort and known room numbers. Close to 300 units, so close to RIV

We can kind of pretend CFW doesn’t exist, but they still aren’t hard up for more inventory by 2028 in any circumstance. Which is what a 12 month announcement would imply to me.

Took me a second to translate PIT. I hadn't seen it written before.

Sorry! Dis abbreviations, Poly Island Tower for those who don’t follow.

The debate is still on for Lakeshore Lodge. Probably VLL or LLV depending on what the association gets named. LL is out for obvious reasons and DLL is too much like Disneyland-land.

Sales for the quarter ending Jan 2025 were strong. And up 75% compared to the same t8me last year. At the rate Riviera is selling it will sell out in less than 2 years. The cabins at this point are a wash, so that leaves the Poly Tower.

If they announce a new resort in a year, that could be ready to sell in perhaps 3 years, so 2029. That isn’t out of line with your suggestion of 2030. I think an announcement is more likely in a couple of years, once Lakeshore sales start perhaps.

I said announce a new resort, not when they would start breaking ground. It is important to always have inventory to sell. While nothing is official, I fully expect the Cabins and LL to be part of the same trust/resort. By 2030 both RIV and Poly will be sold out, so only LL will be in active sales at WDW.

I realised what you said, I probably should have started with that!

I don't think they usually announce a new resort until sales start on the latest one. So I’d expect an announcement of the next resort just after sales of LL start. And by then the permits will already have been reported.
