WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

Here’s an interesting thought.

What about the negative reaction of guests who were going to go, but got shafted by higher prices because they booked late?

I can bet that a lot of people would just say screw it and do something else.
Well this management will not stop until they die…so this isn’t a concern
So you’re cool with Virtual Queue then, right? I don’t particularly care how new something is — bad practices that force you to buy a LL or extra park ticket stink.
It really depends on how the virtual queue is applied or why it’s “needed”

Again it's not like this ticket package is the only thing way to buy tickets ever. They have already said Epic Universe single day park tickets will be made available soon.

I get that the way Universal is doing isn't necessarily the best way but it's no where near as bad as the possible surge pricing rumor.
You're excusing bad behavior by explaining, "But they'll stop the bad behavior later!"

Is it OK to steal if later on, you stop being a thief?

Just cause other businesses do it doesn't mean Disney should do the same. This a horrendous idea. No other theme park does this crap.
Just about all other parks will do this if Disney does it.

Finally someone who understands! I was arguing with my mom about this earlier too she thinks it will make the park less busy I doubt that myself

I highly doubt other parks will copy anything Disney is planning ticket pricing wise. If that was true they would all have different ticket prices depending on time of year. None of them do that other than Universal

Merlin Entertainments had been looking at more variable pricing. Scott O’Neil openly said he saw it as the future as recently as the IAAPA Expo. Whether Fiona Eastwood agrees is something we’ll have to wait and see.

That's still only one other company. I would ne surprised if any of the major US parks do it. I can't see Six Flags, Herschend or Hershey doing it.

Yes because 6 flags has higher standards than Disney or universal when it comes to trying to make more money 😉

Here’s a couple examples of some deals for 2025
We all know they offer discounts. That isn’t what we’re saying. It’s the raise prices and then discount meaning it’s not really a discount. Like free dining but you have to pay rack rate and sometimes add park hoppers onto your tickets.

Also be careful of the “up to” part and how many rooms they offer at that discounted rate. Disney isn’t stupid (well in some cases they are), they are going to keep making money to make the shareholders happy no matter how they trick the common guests. Like the rumor of the demand airline-like ticket pricing coming one day. That isn’t something they are considering to lower the cost of a vacation even though I’m sure some will think they are.
