Monsters in theory could have been a larger land, but yes, I agree that the project “as is“ makes sense to be a headliner, a show and some dining and shopping. It’s what fits that space without losing Star Tours and I would not trade star tours for a 2nd Monsters ride. It also saves the larger space in AC for a more substantial land that will hopefully feature multiple D/E tickets. I know, I know….I am preparing to be disappointed
I would bet after this summer parts of Muppet Courtyard start closing.
My guess would be soon. They already started some minor stuff directly behind the current Muppets area. The Door Coaster is almost entirely back stage so that work can start without disruption.
I actually think Monsters uses that somewhat awkward space of Grand Avenue pretty well… and does about all we could need for such a land anyway. Execution is key for sure. The coaster has the basics to be a very fun ride that’s different…at least for WDW. I am sure Disney will make a very good queue and likely a decent pre-show and story. That’s generally their wheelhouse lately. Hopefully it all works well. The show is a wild card, ignoring what it replaces, I think it could still be good or even great but really have no idea what it will be. I am certain it will be a good place to cool off in the Summer
I would agree...there looks to be a lot of work ahead and not just what is in the expansion area... Looks like an entire building has to come down to open up some more space... As this only effects one attraction, the sooner the better... and hopefully the Laff-Floor will be leaving the MK when this is done and they can create something appropriate for Tomorrowland....
I am not a construction expert so not sure on logistics, but I think maybe the gift shop building that has to be demoed (circled in blue below) could come down and they could still keep MV3D open. The pathway between MV3D and the gift shop is pretty narrow and the current exit for the show dumps you out behind the building requiring you to walk that way to get back to the front of the land (red line below). I wonder if they could re-route the exit to the Star Wars/Grand Ave side of the MV3D show building instead (yellow line). I assume that’s a backstage path used by CMs so not sure if it could be used or if it is too narrow to work. If not they could close MV3D for a week or 2 to demo the building then put up construction walls and re-open for a while. To your point they could also just close MV3D when ready to demo. It’s only delaying the inevitable so I don’t expect them to spend very much to keep it open longer but if it can be done relatively cheap and easy why not keep the capacity there as long as possible.
I guess plans could always change, but it's a new theater show and the door coaster set for this land.
Unless Disney has completely changed course it would likely take a lot longer than two weeks to remove the building. They wouldn’t just knock it over but disassemble it so that materials can be recycled.
However long it takes, a week, a month, whatever. They can gut the inside of the building now without closing MV3D and when it’s time to demo the building itself then close the attraction until it’s safe to reopen the path
Mama Melrose back there will have to close as well... One less table service restaurant in the park...for a couple years while they convert it... So we will be losing the dreadful Pizza Rizzo and Mama Melrose...A shame the TSL area never planned for a "Pizza Planet" (with better pizza) directly lifted from the Toy Story films... that would have been a no-brainer....and if the Alien Swirling Saucers were part of the building...like all indoors and outer space themed with the restaurant overlooking the ride, it would have been amazing... and a VERY popular restaurant....for the mere visual WOW of the space.....

It's okay. Navi is pretty....but boring. it lacks a punch. at least have the shaman speak English so we can 'get' the message. besides the obvious conservation message that 'is' Avatar in general.. the ride is missing 'something' that makes people want to ride it more than once.Exactly this ^ It’s not what the ride is that I have the biggest problem with….its what it could have been. A better ending, some additional AAs and a basic story would have all made it better. If they made it with larger boats and/or maybe double loading they could have almost doubled the capacity coming similar in capacity to a ride like Pirates. AK was in desperate need of another true people eater and FoP is not great for capacity either.
My complaint is that it isn’t a D or E ticket. If a land has 2 rides both should be no less than D and preferably E. See Galaxy‘s Edge and hopefully now Tropical Americas

Hard disagree here. The song is the real standout of Na’vi River. I think it loses a lot of its majesty if it’s not in the native language. It wouldn’t make sense in story either. We’re visiting the Na’vi to experience their culture, why should they adapt to our language?

Well, Disney did exactly that with Harmonious! Nothing screams experiencing other cultures more than getting them to sing "our" songs.
They missed the opportunity to have the Shaman give drunk karaoke-style renditions of “Arabian Nights” and “Part of your World.”
"Colors of the Wind" was RIGHT THERE
