Also for what its worth its taken Disney 15+ years to do what you've mentioned with Tiana, and longer depending on the time it takes to get the series (or whatever it'll be) to screens. So its only after looking back on it in hindsight do they even consider doing something with her beyond the original movie and merch.

How can Asha be part of the Princess line when she's
the fairy godmother? If anything she belongs with Tink and her fairy friends. I'm guessing if the movie had done well, they'd've changed the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques to the "Wish Experiences: Featuring Asha's Amazing Assistants" or whatever. lol

No one says she's actually THE character in question, any more than King Magnifico is
the Magic Mirror
. Both would be raising way too many questions if they were so.

I was at an event this past week where they were taking donations for Toys For Tots and in exchange for your donation, you got a free gift. I'm not gonna say there was a ton of Lightyear and Wish stuff being dropped off there, but... yeah, there was a ton of Lightyear and Wish stuff being dropped off there because it was clearly the stuff that had been cheapest to get and donate. lol

The other day on Bluesky someone posted a photo of a plushy they won in a claw machine game - it was Star, but they had no idea what it was and what it was from!

(Which got me thinking - Star was really a nothingburger of a character, no? We have no idea what motivates them, what its powers/limitations actually are, why it came down to help Asha, why it never uses its abilities usefully - why did Asha have to swim back to Rosas? - and often just does careless harm, etc. As at least one reviewer stated, you could have replaced them with a random wizard or even a simple magic wand and the plot wouldn't be much different. The wizard would be an actual character, at least.)

No. It’s a disaster of a film. I expected to like it though not really respect it (because I have a hard time remembering a Disney animated movie I haven’t liked); but this was was just bad.

The songs were serviceable but the story was inane. So so bad

Moana 2 was not great but at least it made sense.

It is if you look at the basic plot beats -- Moana wants to explore the seas (further this time) and sings a song about it, it turns out her island will die out if she doesn't do so For Reasons, there's a curse that has to be broken that only she can handle, she and Heihei (and the pig and a native crew this time so they don't have to bring Maui on until the halfway point, which makes it Different!) set out, they encounter the coconut people, they get imprisoned with a secondary antagonist who sings a song, Moana figures the way out, they reach their destination but seemingly It's Impossible! to break the curse, Moana has a crisis of faith in her own abilities and gets over it with the encouragement of another character who sings a song to them, Maui does the literal heavy lifting in a fight while Moana figures out a way to break the curse by in part putting A Thing in place, Happy Ending (but with a more obvious sequel hook this time). It's like Ghostbusters II 's structure.

I'm pretty sure they sell the exact same one in WDW. There's a whole line of merchandise that's mainly Sorcerer Mickey but certain pieces have a bunch of other characters and that includes Asha and the star.

Asha also managed to squeak into a small doll pack and is, inexplicably, is still taking up valuable character real estate that could go to a hundred or so other characters that people actually want to meet.

And of course she's also taking up valuable parade space that could have gone to literally anything else.

Meanwhile I have yet to see any evidence that the full rejection of Wish by the general public has subsided at all. At absolute best everyone's just forgotten about it and at worst they still remember it sucked.

Frankly, at this point, I don't care if this is all residue from them being so sure of their garbage being loved that they set plans in motion for this two years ago. Barring some kind of unbreakable Ursula contract, they should've canceled their plans.
