My dates are the same as yours. We went back yesterday, and our last day before winter break is the 20th. Three weeks. We'll see if I can make it!I edited this because yesterday I wrongly used @ for my friend TRR1 when I meant to @ my friend @PUSH

I haven't heard about that one, think I need to seek it out to watch.Tonight’s Christmas movie - A Christmas Story Christmas. Ralphie, Randy, Schwartz, Flick, Scut, and Grover all return, played by the original actors from the 1983 film.
I really enjoyed it. No spoilers, but it was also pretty sad, and pushed a few specific emotional buttons for me. Maybe not the best movie to watch on a particularly bad day, in a pretty lousy week, in an absolutely horrific year. Or maybe it was the best movie to watch.
Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end. Doesn’t just apply to Christmas movies.
I found a livestream on You Tube and it was soooo much better than watching NBC!The Macy's parade singers get worse and worse every year.
Congratulations!! I didn't realize you were even looking into retirement, and wish you the best with your decision!!So, I got a phone call this morning from the office manager of the architectural firm I used to work for.
I had a substantial 401K through them that, of course, is now totally under my own control.
What I did not know is, the firm closed permanently, less than a month after I was gone (back in early March).
I was a bit surprised, but not totally shocked.
2 of the 3 principal partners were at retirement age, and were both worth well into 7 figures. The other principal partner and junior partner are into 7 figures as well, but only in their early 50’s, so decided to found their own firm.
Anyway, the call was in regard to the cash balance profit sharing pension plan the firm also provided for us.
I’ve definitely kept up with the 401K, but basically forgot about the profit sharing thing, as it was controlled by the firm, and not through John Hancock like the 401K.
We could find out what was in that account any time we wanted, and they briefed us individually on it once a year, but it was more out of site, out of mind.
Let’s just say, I’ve been referring to myself as semi-retired over the last several months (while at home taking care of terminally ill MIL, etc.), but now I’m officially calling myself retired…!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll probably get something part time and low stress, at some point, just to get my ol’ beeeeeeehind outta’ the house, but no more rat race craziness…!!!!!
Feels good…!!!!!![]()
I just took Daisy for her night time walk. Since it got so cold with a bit of snow and ice here, she’s been walking shorter distances. Once she’s had enough, she just stops and cries, and I have to carry her the rest of the way home.
Tonight, less than 100m from the apartment, she started hobbling on three legs, and wouldn’t put the fourth paw down.
When I got back, I told Mike about it, and without even thinking, I referred to it as her “rear passenger leg”.
She has boots at home that take 15 minutes to get on her … and 15 microseconds for her to shake off. I’m going to see if I can find her some better fitting ones. Winter is long up here. I don’t want her suffering; and I count on these walks to help me close all my rings. (The last time I failed to close all three was June 19th!)

I officially have ticket to see Wicked on Sunday! I've been wanting to see it since it came out. I've never seen the musical, but it's coming to Madison next summer, and I'm hoping to go. I enjoy the music from it, and I've been jamming out to it the past few weeks.
