News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

Maybe it's only for us nostalgia purists, but I would have preferred The River Country Lodge - with that rustic ol' fashioned swimming hole more classic feeling Disney theming - with the obvious nod to it's history/location.

They could get creative/innovative with the water slides as a differentiator.

A missing element is fun. Contemporary, Poly, Boardwalk, even Beachclub all have it - Riveria is nice, but was a step back here and Lakeshore likely continues down this bland path.
agree would have been so much better and actually feel and sound like Disney than the generic approach, but at least Lakeshore Lodge is (somewhat) better than the reflections muck. They got the message, just not enough. Its like they are scared to death to do anything that isn't marriot style.

The news came from a press release from Disney Signature Experiences/Disney Vacation Club.

No new concept art was released.
Thank you. So, for all we know, the hotel could look completely different to Reflections and its just using the same plot of land. This isn't a Art of Animation thing where vertical construction had begun so Disney had to incorporate already built buildings

I thought the permits revealed the building structure would be the same as Reflections original concept.

Layout is the same yes. It is also possible we see thematic changes tho from original art.

Disney have filed a SFWMD permit today to do geotech boring for "project 89". You can see in the image below that this is near Ft Wilderness of both sides of the old River County site. These borings are done to determine the soil structure in a area where they plan to build.

May I suggest a name change for the thread? ;)

That’s correct. I don’t know why but I assumed you meant they had been there since before the recent restart.
Proof at last that an ancient civilization rivaling Egypt and Central America thrived in Florida some 10000 years ago. I hope they don't ruin the theming with IP or something.

It’s a building on a lake. What more do you want from a lakeshore lodge?!?! Maybe they’ll add a wolf who is great for the kids to hug and a tornado water slide. They could call it the Howlin’ Tornado!
There's no IP Synergy in that.

Except Wilderness Lodge did it first. And then it was copied by Great Wolf Lodge. It's not like they should just keep putting lodge after everything. Even Animal Kingdom Lodge is an uncreative name.
Don't most of the resorts have relatively uncreative names? Poly, Boardwalk, Contemporary, Riviera, Wilderness - they're all pretty straightforward. Only a few achieve more - Grand Floridian, Pop Century, All Stars (funny enough) are a bit more creative.

I don’t know y’all.

I’m not in the market for DVC, but I do like resort hopping, so personally I have no issue with them building like crazy.

DVC is funded separately from the parks, and even without paying a cent, it gives you more to do at WDW. It’s in a good area, so immediate to explore it.

This is true. Though (excluding All Stars) I would argue that all of those names downplay the creativity and scale of the resort. Whereas, in these newer cases, they either match or even oversell the level of theme, detail, etc. If Lakeside Lodge has the scale and imagination of Poly, Boardwalk, Wilderness, AKL, etc. (Riviera intentionally excluded), I'll be just fine with the name. I just have my severe doubts of that...

Lakeside Lodge being a faithful recreation of an upscale Camden Lakeside apartment building on a lake in Central Florida just doesn't do it for me in the theme dept.
