DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I think the main issue with this is how long it would take to build. You’d have to wait until the new office space is constructed to demo the existing space. That adds an extra time cost that they aren’t looking for with this project.

If TDO was smart, they’d already be building new office space on property so that when that’s done they can go ahead and demo the animation building. Even if they don’t have an idea for that space yet, it opens up a great expansion plot.
Office space is the kind of thing that can be churned out relatively easily. Design and construction of the office space could run parallel to the attraction design phases. It could easily be managed to have minimal impact on the project schedule.

That’s also assuming you have to build new space. There’s not a singular team in those offices nor are they all in need of proximity to any of the parks. You could lease existing space and move teams to those facilities.

Thank goodness WDW has the "blessing of size". Otherwise the parks would stay the same footprint and never able to accommodate more guests... plus, favorite attractions would get replaced.

Also, thank goodness the creative folks are able to come up with new storylines and shows for the streaming services so that existing park IP can grow and flourish. Like in Fontierland, Davy Crocket, Zorro, and Elfago Baca are ripe for adventurous shows. If not for this fantastic storytelling, we'd have things like anthropomorphic cars mudding through the wilderness counting as frontier adventure in place of real, human stories.

We'd also get things like a mish-mosh of villains being thrown together in a land. It would have been horrible if they had put a whole new ring around the entire park (like the hub expansion) that crated additions to each land that could have the villains that made sense for each land exist within a cohesive storytelling for that land.

Again, thank goodness for the blessing of size and the creative process.
I was with you until this. Villains Land makes as much sense thematically as Fantasyland; infact it's just going to be the evil version of Fantasyland unless they put stuff like Zurg or Darth Vader in it.

With rumors that Universal is developing a replacement for MSHI, perhaps them getting Marvel back for WDW isn't that far fetched.

Food for thought: I wonder if the rumor about MSHI being replaced is accurate, I wonder if that replacement could be something related to Wicked considering how that movie is likely to do gangbusters at the box office.
Any recent sources for that rumor?

I like Mike and sully and the muppets and are happy they get to coexist :D
Me too, but I would be happier if they also announced their intent to do something Muppets where Lightning McQueen show was next to RnRC. I do like that they talked of Muppets merch on Sunset Blvd in the announcement which to me implies more of a Muppets presence than just an overlay on RnRC.

Since they already announced Villains is replacing Lightning McQueen, I doubt they’ll announce anything yet.

Since it’s probably not MV3d I have a pitch for once villains is done. Since the poster implies it’s gonna be electric mayhem with piggy and Kermit being there too, what about for a show next door, an interactive muppet labs animatronic+media show, this time with fozzie and gonzo (among others) being the “guest stars” for the ride?

Agreed. I’m not expecting it anytime soon either but it would make me happier to know that a Muppets show there was the actual plan and not just me wishing or hoping.

Yeah, I’m in agreement that the full MV3D show probably won’t be moved in but I’d be good with something like you suggest here. The Muppets are actually really easy. No need for a complicated story, just make it fun :)

Theme parks are actively moving away from 3D right now. Universal is converting 3D rides to 2D. Stationary 3D movies are considered utterly passé. Disney hasn’t built one in two decades. Do we really think they’re going to build two at the same time?

I’d be very surprised if Disney has anything more than the vaguest notion of what is going in that theater. Nothing was mentioned at D23. This was empty PR copy to cover the fact that they are killing the Muppets but leaving the theater.
The only alternative is a full animatronic show. They aren't going to do a live stage show because the operation costs will be higher.

But that is the issue. Fantasyland is not only good guy Land. Bad guys have always been present in Fantasyland.
It would be like having Frontierland and then Bandit land.

The land itself is based around the heroes though. The Villains Land will be dark and in distress, hopefully with a sense of danger to it. We don't know if the heroes will be present in the rides or not yet; they certainly could be, especially if they based the rides on movies without rides yet like Sleeping Beauty.

That is just like saying Pioneervillle would be vastly different to Frontierland.

This update to this part of the park was needed. God bless the folks that can see the Muppets show 100 times and not get bored. We were pretty much done with that part of the park. And we haven’t eaten in Mama Melrose’s in a decade or more. Same with Rizzo’s. This part of the park needed to change. And they are still preserving Muppets in an E-ticket attraction space. I can’t wait for this to happen.

We did Muppet*Vision most (but not all) trips but never ate a Mama Melrose or PizzaRizzo .... but I showed the plans to my kids and the first thing my son said is "we have to eat at Harryhausens!" - definitely think there will be increased interest in the entire area for the majority of the guests with this change, not just for the Monsters coaster, than the current version
