Anyone know of any published views between the current Lt. Governor and Disney? Should Sen. Rubio become Sec. of State in January, it’s pretty likely Gov. DeSantis will appoint himself Sen. DeSantis. Might Disney’s relationship with the state improve?

I think that's highly unlikely. More likely is the Lt. Gov. appointed Senator. As for relations, I think we're over that hurdle. Things have settled down. Seems "business as normal" to me.

Why would he appoint her? If it's not himself, I'd think he'd want someone within his inner circle.

I'm just saying she is more likely than himself. Not that he would appoint her. If he appointed someone already in office, then provisions would have to be made to fill that vacant position. She was only "elected" as a running mate. So easier to appoint her and appoint someone else to be Lt. Gov.

Based on the statement that I posted earlier I’d be very surprised if he did that. That type of statement doesn’t come out by accident or without him knowing about it.

I don't see it happening. He already made clear his finishing out his term as Governor. Besides, he's an executive. I don't think Senate is his style, although he served in the House a few terms. If he lobbies for anything it would be AG. He's well suited for that as a former JAG officer. If not, he ran for President a few months in 2023-2024 to bolster his credentials. He leaves office in January 2027 as one of the best known Governors in the nation, ready to run in 2028 for President. Disney is no longer an issue for him. He's serving out his term.

Surprising, given that he is term-limited as Governor. Unless he thinks he still has a shot at the big chair in four years' time.

That chair is now reserved for someone else.

And he's kinda term limited. The FL Constitution allows him to run again. He just has to sit out for 4 years. Thus he could run for governor again in 2030. But he's got higher ambitions.

Not to get too political, but self appointment is usually controversial and limits ones political future as it's seen as a very self-serving act. DeSantis still has future ambitions and he doesn't want to be seen as being greedy.

WDW is the state's largest single site employer.

I should have said WDW is one of the most important entities in Florida, as I don't know the exact details to declare anything as definitively being the most important.

I will add though, that it's more than being the largest employer. WDW drives tourism. There are a great many businesses and people whose livelihoods benefit from the impact WDW has beyond just it's direct workforce and customer base.

If WDW wasn't there, would Universal even exist in Florida? Would we be looking forward to their third gate if WDW wasn't there to attract a lot of the people who also spend time at the other theme part resorts?
