I think your counts here are a bit misleading. The Encanto show is a limited-time offering on a stage that’s meant to feature rotational performances for the festivals (it’s true that they can always give it a permanent home, but we have no indication that they will at this time), so it will not even operate at the same time as the ride.

Also, Frozen has 2 M&Gs (Anna/Elsa in Epcot + Olaf in DHS), with the first one being a more elaborate indoor purpose-built building with multiple rooms, compared to the converted outdoor space with a single Mirabel.

Finally, Anna and Elsa are featured in FoF while Bruno (and Moana) are relegated to the Cavalcade.

When all is said and done, I think both Frozen and Encanto will have appropriate representation in the parks (with the former being considerably more featured, as it should be).

I would definitely agree that until recently, Moana was criminally underrepresented at WDW given her cultural impact, but it’s hard to make the argument that Disney isn’t trying to correct that now. They added JoW and 2 M&Gs for her in recent years and the area that’s now probably going to Encanto was originally slated as a Moana ride (presumably because they realized Tropical Americas is a better fit for DAK than Moana and Zootopia mini-lands). I’d be surprised if Moana doesn’t get a ride (in Adventureland or elsewhere) announced in the coming years.

I think the thought was trying to do one original land for DAK instead of single IP mini-lands. But they still wanted IPs of course. South America (or Tropical Americas) is a perfect fit for a new Land at DAK. And will likely be popular with the large amount of visitors from Brazil and other South/Central American countries that WDW gets. Encanto is hugely popular, features South American animals, and would fit this theme. And Indiana Jones is a pretty timeless franchise (even if the 2 most recent movies were duds, Indy has still proven pretty timeless) which also fits South America nicely and is a good fit for a rethemed Dinosaur/dig site.

Like, this expansion is the absolute most logical thing they could do and it fits the park pretty well. No other IP or theme would've hit on all cylinders like this other than maybe some form of Beastly Kingdom, but honestly in modern DAK beastly Kingdom would arguably feel just as out of place as Zootopia

Even if you think Encanto is popular, there's no way you are going to convince me it's on Moana or especially frozen level, and it's going to be at the same level of representation.

For what its worth, applause at Disney On Ice for Mirabel and the entire Encanto segment was 5x louder than Moana's entrance and Frozen for that matter. Encanto is on the same level as those two franchises now.

I honestly don’t get the love for the beastly kingdom concept. DAK’s E-Tickets already mostly revolve around mythical/imaginary animals (Everest & Pandora), I don’t see the need for more mythical representation in the same park. Especially if it’s just dragons/unicorns. Let those creatures live at the Magic Kingdom.

Animals relevant to Indiana Jones (in the order of appearance as I can recall.) Tarantulas. Snakes. Monkeys. More snakes. Elephants. Giant Vampire Bats. More snakes. Bugs. Horses. Snakes again. Rinocerous. Giraffe. Lions. Snakes again. Rats. Camels. Snakes again. Giant Ants. Eels.

Some of these can be found in the tropical Americas and there's no reason they can't expand the canon. I'm still hoping this is a lost world scenario where we visit a plateau inhabited by dinosaurs.

Also, I can't be the only one that would pay bigly for a multi-course sit down meal in the style of Temple of Doom. I'm sure the chefs can be creative and give us faux versions of eyeball soup, snake surprise, and chilled monkey brains. Think of the TikToks and Instagrams! The waitlist would put Oga's to shame.

I’ve been thinking about Moana, ever since the initial concept art for DAK was announced. Any chance this could be the big E ticket ride that is being added somewhere in this park?

If not, I still think about MK expansion possibilities. Since they seem to be taking Encanto and possibly Coco from the original BBT expansion concept art, is there a chance that original expansion could change? I have always felt that IP would go great in Adventure Land. There is an expansion pad there, correct? And yes, it has been added to Epcot. But why add a popular IP to one park when it can be added at 2?

I actually liked the idea of an Oceania land (and having Moana together with the Nemo show made sense in that regard) in DAK with some animals from Australia or the Pacific islands. I wouldn't object to adding that somewhere else in the park.

That said, if they were going to add Moana to MK, it would be being ridiculous to not have her in Adventureland. There is a large expansion pad between/behind POTC and Jungle Cruise that could fit an e-ticket (basically in the same vicinity as IJA in DL).

Agreed, Encanto is overrated. I barely made it through once.

The problem is Oceania wasn't what was being pitched. It was a Moana flume and spinner next to a Zootopia ride. Some people (myself included) were hoping for the best in terms of how the original proposal could have played out, but the plans showed no Oceania village area, no integration of the Nemo theater, no hint of animal exhibits, no thoughtful transition toward the Zootopia attraction, and never even used the "Oceania" name anywhere.

Decisions of IP will be made by Disney based on audience response, and not someone on the Internet sharing how much they liked it or not, nor on their vague take over whether they think the general populace likes it or not.

Disney has the data. And we see some of that data, e.g., how both Encanto and Moana (and Frozen) were in the top ten streamed movies of 2023.

There will be more Encanto and Moana. The data has spoken. Personal feelings projected onto the world don't mean a thing.

In reality those were flying foxes.

Vampire bats are
a. Not giant, only about the size of a baseball.

b. Only found in Central and South America.


Either Indy is a complete idiot when it comes to animals….or he’s just teasing and egging on Willie Scott.
In the Disney era, either could be true.
