DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

It would take many years to happen and that's only if it isn't good. It's almost impossible for them not to be better. Indy in dl is vastly superior to dinosaur. Primeval whirl is terrible so a dark ride would definitely get more usage. And we've already been told by insiders that there are plans for another e ticket in the park.

They can tell us anything but I’ll believe it all when they open them.

Regardless, the point is Disney must increase capacity AND the number of attractions. The routine of just replacing existing ones isn’t going to cut it long term but ya know what it continues to do, make more people buy Genie+ because they feel like they have to with long lines everywhere and without enough things to spread the crowd out. Almost like they plan it that way

I did primeval whirl once and then never again. Terrible ride, just like goofys sky school in dca.

Each to his own, but I loved it. And I do like the ones in the dark, e.g. Exterminator at Kennywood. Brilliant. Also Crush's Coaster at DLP, similar ride which is extremely popular.

I guess I was one of the few who vibed with the rumor of Moana joining DAK, so long as it came with Polynesian theming and animals. The film has conservation/nature themes aplenty. I still think DAK would do well with adding this part of the world, esp. in conjunction with Nemo. But I’m excited by Tropical Americas!

Do they want to make AK a full day park? I'm seriously questioning because AK was vastly improved prior to COVID. This park has one of the best sets of night-time experiences (Pandora at night, Tree of Life Awakens, sunset safari...and, arguably, Rivers of Light) and they have chosen to bring none of it back. I get the impression that current management might be good with the park continuing to close at 6 p.m. on most days.

I'm fine with them replacing what's left of Chester and Hester, but 100% I'd take this over them replacing Dinosaur.

Crush's Coaster is one of the few rollercoasters in the park....and when it was built the whole park had like 5 rides...of course it is going to be popular... People love coasters and water rides...build either of these and people will line up...good or not. Look at the crazy lines for Barnstormer! or the existing KRR... A decent length flume based ride would be great at Animal Kingdom...with show scenes and an interior portion...something worthy of Disney. If something in Tropical Americas was going to be the "Splash Mountain" of DAK , it would be extremely popular...no matter what the IP is...

The the primary issue is Crush’s capacity is atrocious.

IMHO, a Time Traveler (Silver dollar city coaster) style Crush’s coaster should come to a Disney park. I wouldn’t say WDW due to the similarity to Guardians, but it could work very well at DCA or Disney Sea.

Funny question, for those who know, was Primeval Whirl's 900 p/h capacity accounting for both tracks? If so, that seems pretty easy to beat.

A quality high capacity attraction would easily match or exceed that, and probably TriceraTop Spin's 500ish too. To compare, Dinosaur is up around at 2400, most omnimovers would be over 2,000 per hour as well.

Of course, we'd love to see it do even better, which is where the third attraction comes in. Still, unless they have a solid offering to replace The Boneyard, that's still more people in line, hopefully they'll have some sort of playground somewhere or at least some exhibits.

That would be fantastic from a Guest Satisfaction Ratings standpoint (I would assume), and I would be thrilled to see something there with even a fraction of the ambition that the original plans had… but on the other hand, any KRR redo would almost certainly come with with an IP insertion that downgrades the transportive realism of Asia (since it’s currently “a nondescript rapids ride themed to India or whatever”).

Nothing will beat the Carnotaraus animatronic roaring at you in person, and the simulated chase that follows. It's a very well done effect that has worked every single time I've been on the attraction.

Is what it is though. Just wish they were adding first before replacing. The 15 minute wait indoors, followed by the 5 minute ride is exactly what one needs when navigating the hot and humid park.

The running Carnotaurus animatronic is legitimately terrifying and one of my favorite moments on any ride anywhere

Touché. But that doesn't automatically mean the Encanto ride will be edutainment as well.

What makes you think these new rides will all be huge popular attractions?

Because they're IP-based, and everybody knows that IP-based rides will automatically be popular. Just look at Stitch's Great Escape!

I highly doubt this ride was ever hitting 1800 guests per hour. Watching some YouTube videos of timing, the vehicles were about 20 seconds a part. Assuming both sides were running at 100% capacity and peak is 1440 guests per hour. You would need 16 second dispatches to get to this point, and it probably wasn't ever reaching that point over a full hour.

Moana is extremely popular as an IP. Just because it didn't happen in your childhood or it didn't connect with you doesn't mean it doesn't have a cultural impact. Are the bulk of you putting streaming in quotes or mocking journey of water not parents?

My children going through JOW or meeting Moana in person at AK love it with the magic that it brings.

I don't see many saying that about Moana. I must have skimmed past that.

Encanto though. I think it is silly to think that even with its popular streaming stats that it is as popular as Moana.

And I think it is fair to say that Journey of Water is pretty subpar to attractions that Disney should be building with the lack of frequency we get today. EPCOT is has been Famine for so long and void of new attractions, and then the actual things that happened to EPCOT all happened recently and all the things that were promised did not come, and Journey of Water was a lesser thing that happened. If the other major changes would have come it would have been more welcome.

And Disney also announced it and hyped over multiple years. That does not help.

Moana is very popular. I'm not convinced Encanto is nearly as popular as its being pushed. Completely anecdotal evidence, but our area has a giant consignment sale for kids things every 6 months (like 15,000 square feet insanely packed in). Every one there will be 2-3 Moana costumes, and dozens of shirts and toys. I've never seen and Encanto costumes or even shirts or toys there.

Even if you think Encanto is popular, there's no way you are going to convince me it's on Moana or especially frozen level, and it's going to be at the same level of representation.

Indeed, the 900/1800 figure is the manufacturer stated capacity.
