DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

You should look up streaming stats sometime.

There’s so many unaccounted variables for streaming numbers. How much of these figures are the same handful of accounts putting it on repeat for their children? It does not translate to quantity of theme park tickets sold.

Are you really trying to tell me that Moana and Encanto aren't popular IPs?

Going to get passive aggressive here, so apologies.

Are you telling me that Disney should ignore what kids are actually watching more than any other streaming content on the planet?

You aren't one of those that are floating the Emperor's New Grove as a spot to go into AK too?

I’m not saying they aren’t popular. I’m saying that streaming figures alone aren’t good justification for forcing these IPs into places they don’t fit. Lion King’s Box Office dwarfs that of Moana and Encanto combined. It fits the park, and for all we know, Disney isn’t even considering it for an attraction.

Dinosaurs as a concept are super popular, make money, and will have more longevity than Moana and Encanto, but they still want to throw that out.

The Lion King is already well covered at the park. The Festival of the Lion lets you have fun with the music and characters. Kilimanjaro Safaris provides a far grander experience of the environments and animals of the movie than would be accomplished with indoor sets and robots.

Lion King is one of the few IPs people will accept more and more of... easily adaptable for a dark ride.
no...it's not... I think there is a good presence for The Lion King, a dark ride version would be ponderous and boring. Disney has tons of IP to work with... They already did Lion King... What else can they use...?

I strongly disagree, but to each their own.
The point is that a lot of the elements of the film that are actually relevant to the themes of Animal Kingdom are already represented. The splendor of the savanna and the celebration of its ecosystem are largely covered by the safari, and Festival is an adaptation that pulls forward some of the African cultural elements in terms of costuming and design.

I have to imagine that any ride ported from Paris would just be a retelling of the original Bildungsroman with some Elton John overlaid. For someone deeply concerned about how Encanto fits, I’m not sure why that would be appealing.

You mean where they just opened an attraction with education about about the water cycle?

I agree here to the overuse of Lion King-- I'd take the new Dark Ride FOR SURE and then a change the IP theme for the 30 year old stage show.

Who would pass down a colourful flume ride with loads of animatronics accompanied by some of the greatest songs in Disney’s catalog? I wouldn’t, especially since we just lost one in MK.

How is Lion King overused?

At one time it was. There was a Puppet show in Magic Kingdom, Fantasmic had segments and the motifs in Animal Kingdom were everywhere.

The Safari had references, Circle of Life played throughout the park, Rafiki's Planet Watch, Legend of the Lion King Show.

Almost the Frozen of its time, but it fit much better.

It still has presence in both Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. Just not as much.
Now, I certainly don't think it is overused.

Maybe my bias is that the stageshow is a bore lol.

Where is the current reference in MK? I do not think PhilharMagic counts since its a montage of various IPs

I love how we can expect several years of complaints over whether these rides fit because their actual construction will be out of sight.
While I am an old school Disney fan, I have begrudgingly made peace with the fact that Disney’s choice in new attractions will be 1) only IP based, and 2) determined by streaming numbers

But it actually brings joy to my heart to see this board return to actually nitpicking over new rides, vs. the overall stagnation of the past 4-5 years.

Who would pass on a ride through a magical, living house potentially filled with loads of animal and plant animatronics accompanied by songs penned by one of the most popular musical songwriters of the past decade?

I guess the question is if you actually care about the themes of Animal Kingdom or just don’t like Encanto. 🤷🏻‍♂️
