Well that is it. Why would not that count as at least a reference? It is one fifth of the show. Certainly more than many other Disney hits have at MK. I stated that there is not as much everywhere as there was in 1998, but there is still a good amount of Lion King to be found. It was placed much better than Frozen. There was once a time where Lion King was in each theme park and the face of safety for the resort.
Fantasmic at MGM/Hollywood Studios segment counted as well so why would you not count Philharmagic?

Just to clarify. Not hating on Lion King. Just pointing out that it has never been underrepresented.

The discussion was on presence of Lion King in the parks. A new attraction would always be nice. But so would something that is not already there based on that property in the park. Getting new things does not have to be mutually exclusive to Lion King.

Who would pass down a colourful flume ride with loads of animatronics accompanied by some of the greatest songs in Disney’s catalog? I wouldn’t, especially since we just lost one in MK.

Yeah I agree. If there was ever a park to put a Lion King ride it’s in AK. I think a fun flume ride would help solve my worries with a Lion King ride. There is nothing very distinct about the locations in that movie other than the Elephant graveyard and Pride Rock. I think a fun flume ride through some of the scenes/ songs would mitigate that. The strengths of the Lion King are the music, characters and Story. The latter two don’t always necessarily transfer well to an attraction. What you don’t want is some trackless ride or a passive ride like TLM.

While I am an old school Disney fan, I have begrudgingly made peace with the fact that Disney’s choice in new attractions will be 1) only IP based, and 2) determined by streaming numbers

A little Moana and Encanto is a great thing. Those are great films whose popularity clearly ensures. Now, we don’t need Moana in every park, or Encanto shoehorned into another without regard for thematic or subtextual concerns.*

The problem comes when some on other thread gaslight as to a property’s supposed popularity “on streaming” in a way that seems to overstate its popularity.

* I have a bit of a problem shoehorning in an ethnic IP with scant animal connections into an animal themed park, and what that suggests.

What does it suggest other than the Tropical America’s would work well at Animal Kingdom?

The way to go is...you take the colours from these two scenes and extrapolate it throughout to create a visually memorable experience

I like this. Would make a dramatic elephant graveyard scene standout even more. Going back to the flume system I think it’s also a good choice as the Lion King should have real outdoor sequences with real plants.. The running water would also help the ride feel organic. I feel that Lion King needs these elements to feel authentic.

Redo/retheme the dinosaur area and ride to make it more popular and sell more merch, and then expand the park in a different area to add additional attractions to help make it more of a full day park.

I did primeval whirl once and then never again. Terrible ride, just like goofys sky school in dca.

Also don’t be surprised if they announce or initially plan 3 and we end up with just 2. Wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened. Or the second.

Regardless, they need to expand AK and plus attraction offerings. To not is just silly

That would happen for anything though right? Put in something new, everyone at least wants to check it out at first…same thing will happen to country bears soon, but eventually then what after all the newness wears off, we’re still left with the same number of attractions than before. Therein lies the problem.

There’s a regrettable history where ethnics and minorities have been portrayed as subhuman or savage, akin to animals. That is what I don’t like in terms of it being a default location.

It would take many years to happen and that's only if it isn't good. It's almost impossible for them not to be better. Indy in dl is vastly superior to dinosaur. Primeval whirl is terrible so a dark ride would definitely get more usage. And we've already been told by insiders that there are plans for another e ticket in the park.
