You know there are many different types of women… just as there are men… I am not the traditional stereotypical male… I don’t care about sports ball, I don’t spend time in the shed playing with my tools, all I care about cars is that it gets me from point A to point B… we need to get away from stereotypes… People are all unique from each other…so can characters in movies
So your plea to get away from stereotypes is to label your self “anti” things and draw a line in a sand?

…well that’s interesting…for sure

Hi! It's in the past and no need to re-litigate things. But for the record I do not and nor did I have any problem with your love of the Supremes. I'm happy you enjoy them. :)

I thought you were being intentionally malicious towards another user, which I've taken at face value was actually done completely without your awareness (with intent or malice); for which I apologized for jumping to an accusation.
…good advice

So it better NEVER happen again…by anyone

And are in the Top 10 despite being available for digital purchase/rental for weeks (and from what I can tell are performing just fine there too). Wonka just made it to Blu-Ray this week and hits streaming next week, but it is still playing in many markets, if only as a matinee title.

Wonka even pulled in over a million last Monday (Presidents’ Day) and fourth place in the rankings - plus a million this past Saturday (2.5 million for the weekend Fri-Sun.) That’s impressive considering it’s been out since before Christmas and been on PPV for the last couple or three weeks.

Huh?? More word salad I suppose
It was just bad

Not well thought out or made movies

And I’m not talking gender politics and “agendas”

I’m saying changing the philosophy and the titles of forty year old things so Harrison ford could get a check and someone named “Daisy” that can’t get a job now could be showcased was just stupid

And Disney has lost potential money everyday since

No need to carry water on it, debate it or dwell on it. “These things happened and they were incredible”
As far as I can tell Daisy Ridley has been a working actor since the ST

Since this is adjacent to the topic, does AMC seem like a doomed business? Their stock continues to drop and they’re losing money. I wonder if there’s any universe where a studio would consider partnering with them to reinvigorate the theatrical business.

Rumors have swirled for most of last summer of Amazon buying AMC. After the recent the recent earnings post-Swift not sure that is still in play or not. But I would imagine that their issues are not over. So wouldn't be surprised if they are not at least bought out by a rival theater chain like Regal.

Concerts in the theaters is a no brainer for me -
Fraction of the cost.
YOU CAN SEE THE CONCERT! I could always only afford the seats where the band looks like ants!
In the theater, EVERY SEAT is the BEST SEAT!
You have your seat/spot.
BETTER AUDIO!
Climate control.
Easy access to restrooms.
Easy access to snacks and food.

Such events like this are MUCH better in the theater.

That said, I personally would wait for it to be on streaming.

They predicted the theaters would bankrupt for years

Likely at somepoint bought and sold off for the real estate

Toys r us…basically

Interesting, hadn’t heard that. Could envision Amazon turning some locations into multi-use. I’ve said it before on here but AMC A-List can only subsidize the studios’ tentpoles for so long. Seems unsustainable.

Well many if not most of the theater chains have some sort of customer loyalty program, so it might need to be changed but its required to do business. But A-List was the least of AMC problems. The CEO made some bad investments, some gold mines or something as I recall, seriously. Anyways they have a long way to go before they can been seen as recovered.

Yeah…but has anybody seen her in anything?
You're claim is she wasn't working, which is false. She has been working the Indie circuit, which most working actors do for most of their career. And I've seen her in a few movies, which were pretty good.

Her next Disney movie is coming out later this year, called Young Woman and the Sea about US Olympic swimmer Gertrude Ederle. It was originally a D+ exclusive but has now been moved to theaters for release on May 31st.

Of the chains around Florida, Regal and AMC are the only ones I know of that do subscriptions. Some others have loyalty programs but that’s not the same as $22 for 1-15 movies a month. That is inflating box office numbers for a range of titles from tentpoles on down, which the trades don’t want to acknowledge for good reason. If the only way to stay in business is to sell discounted tickets and hope for concession and meme-worthy popcorn bucket sales, that’s not sustainable. Especially if they can’t clone Gerwig and Nolan.

Maybe it will be good?

But we can just get over this one (too) she’s closer to Jake Lloyd and Ahmad best than Harrison ford and ewan mcgreggor

Actually…if you read the story she may be EXACTLY like Natalie Portman…and I hope it turns out for her as well

I don't see anything wrong with her career being like Portman's. Portman has had a good career and appears to be enjoying her life. Even her recent comments about being able to do more Indie type work because newer generations aren't into celebrity as previous generations comes across as positive.

So yeah if Ridley ends up with a career just like Portman, I think she'll be just fine.
