I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a new Soarin’ film once a decade. Same goes for Canada, China, the Land, and Mission Space.
Soarin over hogwarts
In theory, I agree.I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a new Soarin’ film once a decade. Same goes for Canada, China, the Land, and Mission Space.
No no, they have billions in cash on hand, Hulu revenue coming, and Disney+ will be mining gold for the company starting in July. And $60 billion in DPEP investments coming (starting in 5 years). Everything is fine. Why, I'm sure right now they have a long list of projects they are going to unveil soon. Remember - Bob said "capacity expansion", so it must mean the parks are getting huge dollars thrown at them soon. (he wouldn't just be talking about DVC and cruise ships, would he?)In theory, I agree.
In practice? They’re broke.

Yeah… but with a company like Disney they should have the resources to figure it out. If filming is an issue, replace it with a bigger and better attraction. The China film was supposed to happen, along with upgrading the theater to be a "seamless" 360 experience...but that was announced in like 2018 or something, before COVID, before the major issues in Hong Kong, etc....basically I don't think we're going to see it happen for a long time.
Why is that? To prevent the film from being dated too soon?It would probably be better if they focused on historical China exclusively
It's amazing how much you could update a movie by inserting a few contemporary scenes. You can keep your Rocky Mountain flyover shot for thirty years. And then send a crew with nine iPhones on a drum to shoot ten seconds of purple-haired Montréal youth to update the film.I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a new Soarin’ film once a decade. I didn't have Disney revitalizing Back to the Future on my bingo card for 2024...Time Machine Hang Glider
Park ticket prices must rise in 2025 to pay for the 1.21 jiga(sic)watts required!I didn't have Disney revitalizing Back to the Future on my bingo card for 2024...
You must be kidding. Why is that? To prevent the film from being dated too soon?
I'm thinking of several scenes in Impressions de France that could be updated while keeping the integrity of the film and score. If it's just landscape and architecture (mostly - Notre Dame will be an ongoing project for a while due to the fire), those scenes can remain. But they could swap out the dated 1980s wedding, bike, and speedo French Riviera scenes, for example, for more modern scenes. It's amazing how much you could update a movie by inserting a few contemporary scenes.
