To tick you off.

BTW, Cracked.com, a highly popular humor site, wrote an article the other day entitled, "Maybe It's Time To Just Stop With The Muppets". Written by a troll, no doubt: https://www.cracked.com/article_33406_maybe-its-time-to-just-stop-with-the-muppets.html

The most salient comment: The Muppets Mayhem, a Disney+ series that follows the Electric Mayhem Band’s attempt to record their first studio album, is the latest of several recent stabs at resurrecting a supposedly beloved franchise that no one wants to watch.

🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sounds like trollish behavior to me. And cracked.com - LOL. Typical that this is where someone like you goes for their "news".

While looking forward to Strange World and am rooting for it to do well, I am 95% sure it will flop hard. Even if you ignore the gay controversy or the fact that Disney's Sci-Fi movies rarely do well, I simply am not seeing this movie promoted AT ALL. I have AMC A-list so I go to the cinema almost three times a week. And I haven't seen the trailers for Strange World get played at any of the movies I have seen.

In the past two months, I have seen the IMAX 3D re-release of Avatar, Don't Worry Darling, Bros, The Woman King, Halloween Ends, Smile, Orphan: First Kill, Black Adam, Pearl, a 30th-anniversary re-release of Dracula, Till, Armageddon Time, Tar, Barbarian, the Banshees of Inesherin, The Invitation and a theatrical re-release of Beetlejuice. The Strange World trailer hasn't played before ANY of these movies.

Now it should be worth noting that most of these movies are skewed toward an adult audience, while Strange World is for kids. However, the lack of kids movies coming out in theaters nowadays means there are less opportunities to promote Strange World.

I just don't think this movie is on most people's radar. It seems like Disney is investing all of its energy into Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Avatar: The Way of Water. Maybe Disney wants the headlines to focus on the box office success of those movies so that no one notices the underperformance of Strange World.

This. I think Disney knows it is a foregone conclusion that Strange World won't make any money and is not spending more than the bare minimum to promote it.

The movie gets released in less than 20 days and it looks like there's almost no hype, advertising or awareness of any kind.

I also go to AMC regularly and hadn’t seen the trailer before anything (mostly R-rated fare) until I saw it play today before Ticket to Paradise. No question this thing is set to bomb. The trailer is perplexing, bland and worse than Lightyear’s if that says anything. But I’m also convinced almost everything else this winter (Babylon, She Said, Fabelmans) is going to bomb with the exception of Wakanda and Avatar, so maybe Strange World will be in good company.

I've seen a billboard for the movie... just a few miles away from Disneyland of course. Haven't seen much more for this movie than that.

I have to say, across the board, this holiday season's upcoming releases do not interest me at all.

I think Disenchanted may be the one I want to see the most.

There are a lot of good movies coming out, but they aren't the fun escapism people crave during the holidays. As good as the films about the death of Emmett Till or the investigation into Harvey Weinstein's sexual abuse may be, they aren't the type of movies that turn out huge crowds during the holiday season.

I did see trailers for this before Thor4 and Lightyear, so it was playing before some recent movies.

Its possible Disney is deciding to see if they can make this a sleeper hit via a smaller marketing campaign. Thanksgiving is one of the busiest movie theater days of the year. And when families look at their local Cineplex for movies to take the whole family to, what are they going to find? Well not much this year, especially not for families with kids younger than teens. So you'll get a bunch of families seeing a Disney movie listed and likely take a chance on it because they haven't heard very much negativity about it.

So I wouldn't rule this one as a bomb just because it doesn't have a huge marketing campaign. Plus there are still 2 weeks before its release, they could start a marketing campaign right after BP2 is released. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see a trailer for it playing before BP2.

Maybe also, if the movie is more "under the radar" there will be less of a pre-emptive conservative backlash against the movie like there was with Lightyear.

If I were Disney I'd keep Strange World in theaters at least until January, as it could pick up some families over the Christmas break who may not see Avatar due to the PG-13 rating.

You'd think after Encanto, Disney will have learned their lesson and not dump their new animated release on Disney+ right as the Xmas school break starts.

And that's the thing.... if this appears on Disney+ during the winter holiday break, my family will certainly watch it then. But we won't be seeing it in the theaters regardless.

Well even if its kept to the 45 day window that'll push it to mid-January before it leaves theaters anyways.

Also since there isn't many family movies being released through the end of the year I have no doubt that it'll be kept in theaters until mid-January.

Encanto's run was kneecapped by Disney announcing it'll be on D+ on Christmas day, with just a 30 day window. It missed almost all of Christmas vacation.

That must be the Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman. I love that movie.

It was my first time seeing it. While I don't think it was a great movie (was more style over substance and I couldn't get on board with the Dracula/Mina romance), it had an AMAZING atmosphere/aesthetic, making it a perfect watch for October/Halloween. It was also great to see so much money invested in physical sets and costumes and prosthetics. It made everything seem so much more real than today's CGI fests.

The one I like the best outside of the original Lugosi version is the '79 Frank Langella version. It just seemed so scary as a kid.

I just saw Black Panther: Wakanda Forever last night and they didn't even have a trailer for Strange World in front of it! And they are both Disney owned-movies!
