Exactly…and the problem with vacating at Disney World now is it takes more planning than ever before, and the reduce planning flexibility with genie+. Not a step forward and why so many are frustrated (that among other trends)

I had heard that one of the proposals for G+ was to still have the time selection (like ILL) and for resort guests to select their first LL on their check in day for their entire stay. I could get behind that.

I get what you’re saying but I think the fact that people keep trying to use it as a planning tool says something about what consumers actually want. By way of example - say you sell people a car that has limited towing capacity, and that model is constantly breaking because people go over the towing capacity. It’s true that this is consumer error, yes, but it’s also true that consumer behavior is clearly telling you to design a vehicle with a robust towing capacity.

At certain parks, I definitely think its worth it. I was able to ride everything I wanted at MK and ended up dropping a Space LL because I was too tired and hurting too much to do it I had done some much that day.
I don't see them going back to advanced booking. They need to price people out to make Genie+ work
Dunno. I sent an email about Genie+ and got a call from someone from Jeff Vahle's office. I complained about a bunch of stuff in the email - the 7AM thing, lack of ability to pick the time, lack of ability to pre-select, can't modify, lack of availability. When I spoke to her, the things she mentioned hearing a lot of complaints about where the lack of availability, the 7 AM time, and the lack of pre-selection before your trip. She kind of glossed over the other stuff, which makes me wonder if those are the things they are looking to make changes on.
A lot of those issues would be solved if less people buy it. Charge $50 for it.
Sadly I don't think that would be enough.
Charge $200 then. They need to find that sweet spot where the revenue stays the same for it yet less people buy it.
I'm not sure it's that simple. Take me. Charge $50? I'll grumble but still do it. Charge $200? I'm out. But not only out from a Genie+ perspective, but out from a going to Disney perspective. I know several other people who are the same. So even if they make it revenue neutral from a Genie+ perspective, they risk losing out on people willing to go and spend money at the parks altogether.
Well, there is a lot to be desired in the resort perks category. I imagine they will start there.

Absolutely. If they price the line skip system at more than I’m willing to pay, there’s no way I’m going and standing in lines. We would go on a non-theme park vacation.
Which is why Disney needs to be VERY careful here because they are beginning to lose some of their most loyal guests
