Is Tokyo's new Space Mountain a sign of reimagining for DL?

Could the old "Offload the Development Costs to the OLC" play be at work here?

While I prefer the classic design by far, this makes sense if they're going to completely re-do all of Tomorrowland with a new modern style. If you keep the old Space Mountain design, all of Tomorrowland will eventually revert back to SM's design style no matter what color of puke you paint it.

To answer the thread's title, I don't think so. Right now Disney is generally reverting back to the mid-century futurism style at DL's Tomorrowland and Space Mountain fits that style pretty well.

The other thing to consider is that Tokyo's Space Mt is currently a clone of DL's. This may indicate that whatever is developed for Tokyo would fit in scope and size if not in style at Anaheim.

This seems more likely to me than some "cram Tron into the sub lagoon" type of plan.

While I like this "giant cream pie" design, I don't think they would do it here. And I'm fine with that. I like the 60s retro-futurism look better.

Slightly off-topic, but this reminded me: Did they ever finish the planters at the front of the TL entrance?

lol same here. I wouldn't want the version of Space Tokyo is getting. I just want the love the land its getting.

I can see them closing Tommorowland after Toontown for a number of years

Love this futuristic design.

I don't like tommorowland only following 1960s art style constraints (although the 1998 version was atrocious). Make it look unique and futuristic.

The only thing that worries me is the talk of an emotional story through the ride.

Are scientists going to be screaming at us the whole ride to collect the rare space minerals to save the planet?

Does the ride end with the planet earth exploding from pollution?

I suppose it could be something awful like that. But I'm thinking it's going to be more of a subtle "the future is bright" sort of theme.

Think of this as a clue that there will NOT be any sort of "And then something goes terribly wrong" plot. It's more about vibe than literal story. I hope.

Space Mtn is the last thing I’d change in our Tomorrowland. It’s an amazing ride and an amazing building, no need to touch it beyond a cleaning and some fresh paint.

Launch bay is 100% wasted space, Star Tours feels very out of place now that we have Galaxy’s edge, I enjoy Buzz but it doesn’t really fit the theme, Subs haven’t been open in 3 (?) years, please bring back the Peoplemover… so many things that need help in Tomorrowland but Space isn’t one of them.

I'd bet if it means anything to Burbank, theyre thinking about if they could get away with a permanent Hyperspace Mountain and an overall permanent "Galaxy's Tomorrowland Edge" featuring everything Star Wars they couldn't fit in Galaxys Edge.
