I agree it’s going to happen, but could you clarify how it’s already happening? The re-theme of Splash Mountain is going to happen. It's already happening. There is no stopping this train.

I'm not sure why no one's talking about it, but look what has already been done (left side). The color palette of the rock work and grasses are not the same. I expect them to slow play the re-theming like this as much as possible until Tron opens.I agree it’s going to happen, but could you clarify how it’s already happening?
This was talked about quite a bit in the annual refurbishment thread. But it was chalked up to Disney being cheap/lesser quality work as seen all over property these days. I thinks that’s significantly more likely than them deciding to refresh half the mountain and leave the other half untouched in preparation of a retheme that won’t happen for at least a year.I'm not sure why no one's talking about it, but look what has already been done (left side). Also, everything that's not coming to the new attraction has more or less been untouched; which is a departure from previous annual refurbishments.

Yeah, after more thought, this is more likely the plausible answer here. This was talked about quite a bit in the annual refurbishment thread. I thinks that’s significantly more likely than them deciding to refresh half the mountain and leave the other half untouched in preparation of a retheme that won’t happen for at least a year.
I think it's just them being sloppy, if I can be honest.I'm not sure why no one's talking about it, but look what has already been done (left side). The color palette of the rock work and grasses are not the same. I expect them to slow play the re-theming like this as much as possible until Tron opens.
EDIT: This could really just be sloppy/slow work as suggested in other threads.
However, everything that's not coming to the new attraction has more or less been untouched; which is a departure from previous annual refurbishments.

At this point I'm not looking at this as a retheme, I'm looking at it as a mercy kill. There is absolutely no way Splash should be operating in this shape.

While I agree Disney has and is being cheap, I feel like it's also a combination of the fact that they can't afford to shut down rides for the prolonged times it would require to fix everything. I'm sure there are ways to do these things through third shift work, but I feel like that makes it even harder and would effect show quality as well. I feel like there really is not right answer to this.Yeah, most of the rides at World are not pristine anymore. It's not just a Splash thing; it's a Disney dosen't want to pay to fully maintain their rides thing.
But think of Disnesys's future! The first time I noticed a "broken effect" was the trim brake on the final drop of Space Mountain.
Splash is the easiest ride to see what's broken because the AAs are up close. I'm curious how bad IASW AAs are. Pirates is also pretty bad.
Less animatronics and moving parts. That’s a given.it's sad to see Disney let this ride rot basically. If they did it with Splash, what makes you think that princess and the frog will be any better?
Less animatronics and moving parts. That’s a given.
You underestimate Disney's neglecting capabilities. The ride's scenery and characters are likely to be mostly video based. So instead of frozen robots, you'll get blank or glitchy video.Less animatronics and moving parts. That’s a given.
