It just never fails to blow my mind that Americans accept this kind of deterioration when it's abundantly clear that it doesn't have to be this way. I think it just speaks to the crassness of the entire situation--taking a sacred figure to multiple people, using it for ill purposes (intentional or not), making a theme park attraction they allow to rot into the ground, and then throwing it away when they're done. Woof.

representation matters...just... not for real people, I guess? I saw the sign that the shop had posted in the window and I teared up, I can't lie. I couldn't imagine nearly 40 years of having a business and surviving multiple recessions, natural disasters and a pandemic, only to have Disney put you out of business whilst applauding themselves.

Clowns on Reddit unironically think that the ride will be taken care of with the new theme, when really it's American companies that run everything into the ground without repairs.

No, what actually happens is a troll will say something like "this is gross, I can't wait for Tiana1!1 because racist bunny" and then when you try to counter it, the whole thread gets deleted, thus wasting your time. It's like bruh, I was in the protests too and I also like the theme of Splash.

This thread is nowhere near as bad, that sub is the Disney Defense Force, agree or we will smite you.

Are they going to continue refurbishing the exterior even after the ride re-opens? Seems weird that they picked a completely different color for the rockwork and the foliage. There's a very hard transition from new to old.

It was probably the cheapest paint they could find. I do agree it is a hard transition though. Maybe they thought the new paint would hold up better in the Florida sun.
