I don't think any of us would have a kind word to say about such individuals. They're not the ones I have any interest in defending. Rather, it's statements to the effect that all unvaccinated people are stupid and expendable ("I don't care if they die") that bother me.

And I am not sure if I jumped in at the wrong time, as my entire post was about admiring how you seek out the positive, seek the best, and ask for kindness. Which I agreed with.

I’m starting to wonder? I was just looking at vaccinated data and in every age group fully
vaccinated lags behind one dose by around 10-15%.

Makes me wonder if there’s that many uninformed people that think one dose was all they need. They clearly aren’t anti-vax because they got the first dose, something is preventing them from returning though.

If it was 1-2% I’d say laziness but 10-15% seems more like uninformed.

This is where the vaccine passport is an under-rated, but highly successful tool. Some Canadian regions / provinces actually have better vaccination rates in 20 year olds than 50 year old... really! Both are comparatively very high.

Likewise, completion of the series is much higher amongst Canadians.

The young demographic needs a 'reason' beyond abstract low statistics compared to other abstract low statistics. When presented with a rationale proposal - vaccination increases your ability to participate in leisure and social activities, they willingly get vaccinated. That's where the passport comes into play. Want to go see a movie? You need to get vaccinated. Simple, effective. An actual benefit they can tangibly weigh.

Lots of middle age adults still struggle with this sort of abstract reasoning and intrinsic motivation too. I do think *eventually* the US will start to use them more broadly. Or risk being left behind as the rest of the world starts to move forward.

But ethnic minorities are not the ones out there actively endangering others, or working to misinform.

I just also understand how many are frustrated and over a segment of people actively misinforming, who we seem to no longer have a way to engage with.

No, I don't think that's the case. We wouldn't be here this many pages on if it were, and the posters I responded to would have offered clarifications if I'd misrepresented their remarks. In any case, I think everyone concerned has made their point, and I for one am moving on.

While some might say "do both," only one of these seems to be 'on the table' right now. And if we had to pick just one... how about the one that only angers the 15% and not the 100%?

This was the essence of my plow forward post. I’m not making light of Covid. I’m vaccinated and so is my family including two young daughters (10/7) but i have a hard time believing Covid-zero. It’s just not going away.

If you want to use case counts as all of your indicators, we will never move forward.

You just don’t actually describe how plowing forward works, which leads to the assumption that you just want others to have to work harder and not inconvenience you.

But behaving like it’s February 2020 would put lots of people in hospital. That’s what we’re trying to avoid.

You’re putting others at risk by advocating for actions that leads to overwhelmed hospitals. There are people in excruciating pain that will be alleviated with surgery, but you are telling us you want them to continue suffering because you don’t want to bother anymore?

There are tens of millions of unvaccinated Americans. If large numbers of them end up in hospital, the effects will be felt by society at large. That is why it is senseless to pretend that the unvaccinated can just be ignored or damned to their own fate.

It’s embarrassing. “We didn’t anticipate a winter surge from a new variant that we have been warning about since forever.”

They need about billion per week if they were serious. This would allow serious preemptive testing.

They could mail out a billion test kits Tgi people and some here will say why isn’t it 2 billion. They can say we are including a 2 thousand dollar check with each kit and some here will say why isn’t it 3 thousand. It’s so predictable.
Why don’t we say it would be nice if it was more but that’s a start. Maybe this is just a start and more will happen. Anything helps.

We have about 300MM people in the US. How are you going to make a meaningful impact with 3 tests for every 2 people?

If they put out 1Bl Billion per week, everyone could test every other day. That would make a meaningful impact.
