AVATAR Concept Art released

The Epcot Manifesto
Since it was mentioned that what was released was a model, and since I honestly thought it would be a really funny way to measure/visualize things, I created this using my ever-so-advanced MS Paint skills. I'm positive that these results are completely accurate :cautious:

Pandora_tree_people.jpg

Using the model people as a unit of measurement, I measured the following:
The lowest point on the floating mountains = 5 people high
The lowest point on the big floating mountain = 7 people high
The highest point on the big floating mountain = 13 people high
The area between the supports = 9 people wide

Now, no idea what scale they make their people, so using the ultra accurate Wikipedia, I see the average height of a US male is 5' 9.5" (176.3cm), and the average height of a US female is 5'4" (162.2cm). The average would be about 5' 6.75" inches (169.25cm).

Using that as a base, that means
the lowest point of the floating mountains = approx 27.8 feet
the lowest point of the big floating mountain = approx 38.93 feet
the highest point on the big floating mountain = approx 72.3 feet
The area between the supports = 50.06 feet

That means that the big floating mountain would be right around 33 1/3 feet high.

Phew. My work here is done. Is it the weekend yet?

I do think Jon Landau said the mtns would be 143' tall
now im sure that could change but he made that specific point

when avatar the movie was shown on FX he talked specifically about Pandora going to DAK and mentioned the height of the mtns
I saw someone reference on the Parks Blog that the Tree of Life was "still" going to be taller than the floating mountains (just a commenter though, not a Disney rep). Since ToL is 145' tall, the 143 number does seem to have some logic.

Maybe the human models are actually representing Na'vi not humans. That would about double the size.

Great... anyone know the average height of a Na'vi? I've got more math to do. ;)

The mountains are 13 Na'vis high!

Everything in Avatarland must now be measured in Na'vis, it's a new rule.

I'm in.

I think I read somewhere that the average male height is approximately 10 feet

Using that as a base, that means
the lowest point of the floating mountains = 5 Na'vi or 50 feet
the lowest point of the big floating mountain = 7 Na'vi or 70 feet
the highest point on the big floating mountain = 13 Na'vi or 130 feet
The area between the supports = 9 Na'vi or 90 feet
Big floating mountain = 6 Na'vi or 60 feet

So, now we just have to figure out if Disney is using SNM (Standard Na'vi Measurement) or boring old regular people measurement

What if they just plunked some plastic people down in the model for looks without even thinking about scale?

I hope this new land has some good attractions because I never cared for the movie at all. It was one of those movies that I saw and never wanted to watch again.
