I know this is a joke, but it would be cool if Disney could create some realistic animatronic banshees.
Pandora really is screaming for some large scale AAs of the cool fauna from the movie. It absolutely befuddles me that they didn’t have some at land opening whether as part of NRJ or with some sort of walk through animal trail.

Nope, the themes of the park are as follows:

  • The intrinsic and superior value of nature – this means that nature, above all else is at the forefront of the design. This leads to parts of the park being out of their true control (live animals, overgrown pathways, etc.).
  • Transformation through adventure – this idea is that adventure changes people when they experience something they’ve never experienced before.
  • Personal call to action – a sense of responsibility for the animals and the conservation message.
That's not the theme but okay, thanks for attempting to one up me. God I hate theme park fans.

Hmmmm

"ROHDE: Everything at Animal Kingdom is predicated on a set of thematic ideas and those thematic ideas are consistent throughout. They are this notion of the intrinsic, unchanging and supreme value of nature and how everything we do expresses this, this notion of adventure as a psychological phenomenon, and adventure as a form of change, for yourself to go somewhere, you’ve never been, to see something you’ve never seen, and to do something you’ve never done. And then, there’s this personal call to action that is both our own and one that we put forward to our guests. If you think about this supreme intrinsic value of nature, psychological adventure and change, and personal call to action, those themes underline the Avatar brand, as well. "

I don't get the push for Moana. That movie did well, but not *that* well...
When you look at the response to Frozen they didn't do much for years and in the end not much at all so I don't get the mindset that if a movie does pretty well it automatically deserves a land in a park? Movies are made all the time and a land sticks around well beyond it's sell by date so maybe theme park fans are just starved for new content? Stale grampas may be taking their toll?

Moana is routinely the top mainstay for Disney+. Its outperforming frozen recently.

Encanto likely will be number one streamed movie this year (on any platform not just D+), turning Red second then Moana third. The difference is Moana is not a new release. It’s just that strong.

You can bet Chapek takes notice of its ongoing streaming performance.

Of course he does.

And if the ride is great, it won’t matter. So build a great ride.

I think these are more of the core values of the park, which then overlay into
The different themed lands we have today.

While not the overall theme, Originally the park did want to focus on the 3 sections: real, extinct, and imaginary. This structure was a primary focus in the parks first years of operation. Which those would then have something to do With the above you mentioned. The theme of animal kingdom is complex 😅

Stop it, they're themes.

The theme integration of Pandora into DAK is flawless. I will die on this hill. You can argue about the quality of the attractions all you want, but they nailed the integration into Animal Kingdom. It is the best example of adding a land to an existing park without diluting the original themes of that park. Anyone that says otherwise, has no idea what they're talking about.

We seek out Beastly Kingdom because we think we know what it is. The original land was a hedge maze and a dragon themed roller coaster. That's not really what the park needs right now.
Pandora the land, is amazing, especially at night. Na'vi River is terrible. Either way, "alien land" is not the same as Earth; past, present and myth. I would find Dragons, Griffins, etc more acceptable to the ethos of DAK. The Banshee are very cool though.

Beastly Kingdom would have been awesome. Dueling Dragons coaster, Fantasia maze, Pegasus, etc. A lot of material from myths, sagas and ancient lore.

Ice Age would be a far better choice for a Dino-Rama replacement. Disney owns it now, it's about prehistoric animals, and that Buck Wild movie shows that Disney still wants to milk the franchise.
Ice Age, the theme, not the movie, would be great. The movie, especially how doofy the main character is, seems more like a spoof than an honest attempt to show Ice Age animals/experiences. I get it's for kids, but it's low-brow for Disney to associate.
